Mooting is a key part of any legal education. Our mock courtroom is the perfect place to develop your confidence and fine-tune your performance. You’ll have classes and extra-curricular activities there, and you can even use it for your final year project.

Ready to test yourself in the real world? You can work with a qualified solicitor offering pro bono services to local people. You might join the Business Law Café offering advice to local SMEs, or maybe you’ll help someone with legal advice and support they wouldn’t normally be able to afford.

Designed for registered and qualified physiotherapists, this course gives you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and professional practice across a range of practical and theory-based units.

You'll complete core units of study and choose optional units that are intended to complement different areas of physiotherapy practice, such as musculoskeletal, neurology or a first contact practitioner role.

Practical sessions are an important part of this course and, depending on the units you choose, you’ll learn techniques such as soft tissue manipulation and manual therapy techniques.

Most study will take place on-campus. However, for example, when studying the sports units, you may study at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance (MIHP). Our lecturers are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and many still work in practice alongside teaching. Our teaching team also includes researchers with expertise across a range of specialisms, including knee and spinal dysfunctions, shoulder management, musculoskeletal and physical activity interventions, rehabilitation for older people and stroke rehabilitation.

As computing technology becomes more integral to our homes, workplaces and public services, cybercrime is increasingly widespread and dangerous. With our BSc (Hons) Cyber Security, you’ll be part of the solution as you learn to investigate breaches and harness secure systems.

You’ll specialise in identifying different cyber security attacks and mitigation techniques, detecting and responding to network-based intrusions, ethical hacking and testing approaches, and applied cryptography. And because other people’s private data is involved, you’ll also explore the legal and ethical implications and how they relate to cyber security.

Throughout our cyber security degree, you’ll also gain a broad understanding of core computing subjects, such as programming, mathematics for computing, databases, networks and operating systems. Extensive group work will develop your ability to think logically and use your initiative to critically analyse problems. By the time you graduate, you’ll have a set of skills that are in high demand in our technology-led world, across both the public and private sectors.

We work with even more organisations from the visitor economy in order to give you first-hand experience of the industry throughout your studies.

You will have the opportunity to work on live client briefs and regularly hear from experts within the industry who will share their knowledge and expertise with you. Engaging with industry professionals will help to give you an insight into how different organisations operate, and how they respond and adjust to the opportunities and challenges they face.

This course combines the study of art history, focusing on developments since the nineteenth century, with the essential practical skills and critical perspectives needed by the contemporary curator. And Manchester School of Art school provides a distinctive, vibrant environment in which to consider art’s historical development and its relationship to society.

The course shares much of its teaching with BA (Hons) Fine Art and Art History, and students from the two courses collaborate on projects and exhibition-making. It is taught by a multidisciplinary team of practicing artists, art historians, curators and theorists.

Placement options

SODA Placement Year
As part of your studies with SODA, you will have the chance to take a year working on placement within the industry. During your year, you will spend at least 36 weeks working within an organisation in the industry, developing workplace skills, practical understanding and genuine industry experience.

On this computer science masters, you’ll explore themes around object-oriented programming, advanced computer networks, cloud software development and information systems and databases. You will learn advanced concepts, techniques and technologies to equip you for the practical side of investigating an issue and creating a system or solution to match. Through this, you’ll gain a set of skills made for the modern professional world of computing.

You’ll also have the flexibility to set the direction for your postgraduate studies with a master's project of your own design. While you’ll have the one-to-one support of your supervisor, it’s a solo project – as much about developing computing skills as it is about building confidence and autonomy, vital skills for the workplace.

Placement options

Strengthen your skillset by spending time in industry on a placement year, applying the skills you’ve learned throughout your academic studies in a practical, real-world environment. It’s an excellent opportunity to develop a professional career development plan and gain transferable workplace skills that can boost your employability.

Following completion of the taught elements of your MSc course, you can gain additional practice credits by working for a minimum of 36 weeks and a maximum of 42 weeks in an industrial setting, relevant to your course.

It’s your responsibility to search and apply for advertised placement opportunities, but you’ll be supported by academic staff and the University’s Careers and Employability Service to find a placement that is suited to you and your career ambitions. However, not all students can be guaranteed a placement.

All placements are approved and monitored in accordance with the University’s Institutional Code of Practice for Placement and Work?Based Learning. For international students, this includes additional checks on study visas to ensure the appropriate visa status.

A degree in AI and data science will equip you with the knowledge and skills to acquire, curate, manage, analyse, and make inferences from data for solving real-world problems.

In your first year, you will study core computing topics such as programming and databases, as well as specialist subjects such as mathematics, statistics, and the principles and practice of data science. As you move into your second year you’ll progress onto more advanced topics, such as applied predictive modelling, algorithms and data structures, machine learning (a key topic in artificial intelligence), and the theory and implementation of alternative database models. In your final year, you’ll be ready to meet complex subjects such as deep learning, high-performance computing and big data, and you’ll turn your hand to a large-scale technical project.
