BSc (Hons) Criminology with Quantitative Methods offers exciting opportunities for you to study the cutting-edge discipline of criminology in the vibrant city of Manchester whilst gaining extensive quantitative skills. It is aimed at students who want to investigate crime and its causes, patterns, consequences and responses in a social context, as well as develop a specialism in quantitative research methods.

The first year introduces you to the building blocks of criminology: key concepts and theories, key institutions of the criminal justice system, crime policy, law and practice. You will receive training in a wide range of research methods, both qualitative and quantitative, during the first two years. In the final year you will focus on quantitative methods for designing, implementing and analysing social and criminological research, and complete an independent project.

A degree in AI and data science will equip you with the knowledge and skills to acquire, curate, manage, analyse, and make inferences from data for solving real-world problems.

This course is suited to those looking to enhance their environmental science or management backgrounds, and also those from other backgrounds looking to move into the sector and complement their skills with environmental science and with environmental management aspects.

As such, you’ll cover a diverse range of units throughout the course. On one hand, you’ll develop skills in assessing, monitoring and modelling pollution in the air, water and land, as well as measuring ecosystem degradation. Placement options
At Manchester Fashion Institute, employability is at the heart of our teaching. All of our undergraduate courses offer an optional sandwich year route that gives you the opportunity to apply for an industry placement between your second and final year. If you choose this route, you will commit to working full-time in the fashion industry for the entirety of your third year, before returning to complete your degree in your fourth year.

A placement year is an incredibly valuable element of your course as it allows you to apply your university-based knowledge, skills and understanding to your job role. During your placement, you will make your own industry contacts and enhance your CV by gaining real-world industry experience. Currently, 40% of our student cohort take part in a one-year full-time industry placement.

We have a dedicated placement team with over three decades of experience sourcing and securing outstanding placement opportunities. They will provide you with extensive support and advice prior to and during your industry placement.

Placement opportunities are available both in the UK and internationally, with students previously working in countries such as Austria, Germany, Norway, Hong Kong SAR, Sri Lanka and the USA.

With our MSc in Computer Games Development, you’ll gain the skills required for an exciting career within this growing industry, both here in Manchester and beyond. You’ll learn the core essentials of programming for games and you’ll conduct playtesting sessions and user research to ensure that your games are fun, impactful, and that they effectively reach their target audience.

The fashion industry is constantly evolving and now more than ever is undergoing extreme transformative change. A new generation of consumers are rallying against the fast-fashion ethos and are instead favouring a more cyclical approach to consumption and production. Cultural shifts are also affecting the industry, with brands having to re-evaluate their cultural purpose, identity and the way in which they communicate to the consumer to ensure greater transparency and authenticity.

This program is aimed at students who want to gain experience of both the strategic and creative aspects of fashion marketing. Whilst studying on MSc International Fashion Marketing, students will produce innovative marketing campaigns for fashion brands through a variety of different communications media, while supporting their strategic and creative process with fundamental theoretical knowledge. They will also learn how to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing global market and forge a successful career in the creative and cultural industries.

With a strong emphasis on employability and social responsibility, this course will equip its students with a mastery of the key skills required to help evolve the fashion system to become more ethically conscious, socially progressive and environmentally sustainable.

With this four-year integrated masters course, you’ll go on a journey from fundamental engineering principles all the way through to live, practical projects that are informed by our active research and industrial partnerships. On our MEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree, you’ll start off by exploring the fundamental theories of engineering science and applied mathematics, as well as learning practical and project skills. Then, through the study of solid mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, you’ll begin to develop your scientific and analytical skills.
