This four-year Linguistics with French degree concentrates on developing your understanding of how languages function, how we communicate and the growth of language in the brain. You'll explore linguistics in the context of English and French language. You will build a firm foundation of skills and knowledge to pursue many career paths.

Building your fluency in French alongside your study of linguistics will give you a unique perspective on the language. You will study French from intermediate or advanced level depending on your previous experience.

In your third year, you'll immerse yourself in Francophone culture as you spend the year in a French speaking country, further improving your language skills and confidence, and gaining a first-hand appreciation for the language in context.

You spend two-thirds of your time studying mathematics and statistics, and one-third studying topics in accountancy and corporate finance in Newcastle University Business School.

Alongside core modules from our mathematics and statistics programmes, you will take specialist topics with financial applications, such as financial modelling.

This is complemented by corporate finance modules, including interpreting company accounts and international finance management.

This Landscape Architecture course will improve your ability to think critically about the design of place and space. You'll develop advanced skills to deal with complex aspects of landscape design and planning in a creative and innovative way.

You'll develop a practical understanding of the theories, methods and techniques that are applied to landscape architecture. Much of what you learn in this Landscape Architecture course is applicable worldwide.

Our course is well established internationally. We've been educating museum professionals since 1993. We encourage a hands-on approach, involving major input from museum professionals regionally, nationally and internationally. The MA in Museum Studies is part of the School of Arts and Cultures and is taught by staff in Media, Culture and Heritage. Media, Culture and Heritage is a thriving, high-profile interdisciplinary research community. It is made up of postgraduate research students and experienced academic researchers who are key figures in their fields.

This Urban Planning degree focuses on the built environment and how it’s developed. You'll develop a thorough understanding of planning processes, design awareness and housing policy so you're equipped to pursue a career in town planning.

The course draws on Newcastle’s rich history, including the rise and decline of industry and its more recent cultural renaissance. You will undertake projects that address real-life planning situations and challenges, taking you out into the city and beyond. Study visits in Stage 2 also offer opportunities for international exploration and comparison.

This Modern Languages, Translation and Interpreting degree focuses on developing your language skills to near-native fluency as well as equipping you with specialist and in-demand skills such as translating and interpreting.
