Overview

This programme follows the same programme as our Marine Technology with Naval Architecture BEng Honours degree. It focuses on developing skills across all aspects of the design and operation of ships and other large floating structures. You'll gain a broad engineering education. This equips you with key engineering skills engineers apply to industry-specific problems. This accredited degree also provides a direct route to Chartered Engineer status.

You'll have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in advanced topics of naval architecture during your third and fourth year. You'll specialise in a field that interests you. This enables you to graduate in your chosen specialism tailored to your career of choice. Specialisms include:

  • Offshore engineering, including offshore design, marine structures, and offshore engineering
  • Small craft technology, including small craft design, marine structures and small craft hydrodynamics)

In Year 4 you'll develop your technical and professional-standard skills. This will be through a final group design project.

We work with industry so your studies reflect the challenges engineers face in the real world. You'll have hands-on practical learning and optional industry placements. They give you the opportunity to put your theory into practice. You'll gain invaluable experience in the sector.

About Game Engineering
Our degrees in Game Engineering focus on the design, development and implementation of software that drives computer games (rather than the artistic element of games development).

They enable you to design, develop and implement computer graphics software and applications on a variety of architectures including games consoles, graphic workstations and advanced 3D reality environments.

They also allow you to exploit such software and hardware in entertainment, engineering, design and scientific visualisation.
