If you have a passion for technology, our BEng in Software Engineering will teach you to create and innovate through information technologies and computer programming. It is designed for problem-solvers, looking to address challenges in our interconnected, technology-orientated society.

You’ll first learn the principles that underpin computer science, giving you a strong technical foundation on which to build. The programme shares a common first year with our computer science programmes, enabling you to transfer between programmes at the end of the first year if interests or career aspirations emerge in other areas.

This course builds knowledge and skills in the planning and management of development projects and programmes. It is designed to deepen critical understanding of the strategies, processes, techniques and issues involved in taking ideas for development and turning them into practical realities with identifiable outcomes and benefits.

The degree provides an excellent basis for career enhancement or conversion for those with interest and experience in projects for development. The focus of the course is on development projects in the public or third (voluntary or community) sectors, but the underlying principles are applicable to all types of project, including those for commercial benefit.

On completion of your course, you will be able to understand and examine critically:

• The discipline of project and programme management, within an overall appreciation of the nature and purpose of projects
• The principles and practice of project planning, design, preparation, and appraisal techniques for projects in a development context
• The theory and practice of management skills for project and programme management, focusing particularly on 'hard' and 'soft' skills for successful project implementation

The MA Filmmaking programme will engage you in the production of advanced digital film products.

You will study modules in the production and technology of videography (shooting, editing, post-production), together with specialist modules in film industry practices, music video commissioning and film history and context.

Students on the MA Filmmaking programme also have the opportunity to work with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) through Bradford UNESCO City of Film to help develop the work of UNESCO including:

• Greater understanding of the work of UNESCO across the world and how filmmakers might respond to this
• Greater understanding of the UNESCO Cities of Film and filmmaking in other countries around the world
• Guest lectures from experts in other countries
• Access to and use of the UNESCO film and media archive

This unique degree gives you the tools you need to help people to explore their lives, their emotions, and the issues that underlie their difficulties.

You’ll study many of the modules you would take as part of our BSc (Hons) in Psychology, along with specialist modules designed to provide you with understanding of the theory and practice of counselling.

You’ll gain a strong understanding of core psychological concepts and practices, and the professional applications of psychology, whilst learning concepts, ethics and techniques related to counselling.

The Department has a practical relationship with film related organisations such as the Bradford Film Office, UNESCO City of Film and the Working Academy placement agency. These close links provide our students with opportunities to engage on projects outside of the classroom and build up the practical experience needed to break into to film industry.

Our MA in Peace, Resilience and Social Justice is designed for those seeking an advanced understanding of the intersecting crises of climate change/ecological degradation, inequality and injustice, conflict and violence.
The programme critically examines how different actors are responding to these challenges, including efforts to rethink the assumptions and practices that shape our ways of life, public engagement, contentious collective action and practical efforts to design and create more resilient, sustainable and equitable communities.

You will critically explore themes such as:

• The contested meanings of peace, resilience and social justice in a complex and changing world;
• The ways in which scholars, practitioners and activists are analysing and engaging with complex social-ecological systems and crises;

Biomedical Science is the in-depth study of human biology in both normal and disease states. This course provides you with detailed understanding of the causes of human disease, how these produce symptoms and the effects of disease on the structure and function of human cells, tissues, and the whole organism. You will learn both current techniques used in the study of human diseases in the NHS, and innovative technologies under development for experimental treatments.

As a University of Bradford chemistry student, you will have choice and flexibility in your degree.
