Biomedical engineering is a fast evolving interdisciplinary field, which has been at the forefront of many medical advances in recent years. As such, it is a research-led discipline, which sits at the cutting edge of advances in medicine, engineering and applied biological sciences.

This MSc programme is designed to provide an advanced biomedical engineering education and to develop specialist understanding; the programme contains a large project component which allows you to develop advanced knowledge and research skills in a specialist area.

The programme also aims to develop a multidisciplinary understanding of the subject, which can be applied in a variety of clinical, biomedical and industrial settings. All subjects are taught by biomedical/medical engineers and clinical scientists. This allows you to gain the related skills and experience in healthcare science and technology, engineering principles and manufacturing, and management of various industry standard medical devices.

This new MA in Archaeology and Identity at the University of Bradford combines theoretical archaeological interpretation with cutting-edge scientific archaeology.

Drawing on the skeletal collections and world-leading expertise at the School of Archaeological and Forensic Sciences, the MA explores social interpretation of remains.

This degree explores how archaeological techniques and the analysis of human remains are used in a forensic (medico-legal) context.

You will gain a full grounding in archaeological excavation, surveying and recording of crime scenes.

In addition, you will also learn about human anatomy and anthropological analysis of human remains, including age, sex, ancestry assessment and the analysis and interpretation of trauma.

Specialist modules will allow you to understand how scientific techniques are used to build up a biological profile of unidentified remains; processes of decomposition (and preservation) of human tissues and associated materials; trauma analysis; and forensic identification of living people.

Skin Science and Stem Cell Biology is the study of the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in tissue regeneration; study of which is ultimately aimed at the treatment of human disease by producing replacement cells, tissues and organs. Although still in relative infancy, this exciting new field of tissue engineering is rapidly growing in importance, as recognised by the 2012 Nobel Prize in Medicine which was awarded for research in this field.

The Skin Science and Stem Cell Biology programme at Bradford has been designed to allow students to focus on acquiring specialised scientific knowledge and practical skills in stem cell biology related to skin sciences, with a particular emphasis on the potential applications in the treatment of skin disorders as well as the relevance to regenerative medicine.
