Our MChem Chemistry degree with research project abroad or industry experience is the first of its kind in the UK. This MChem Chemistry with Medicinal Sciences degree specialises in pharmacology and medicinal chemistry. You’ll study topics such as natural product chemistry, physiology and biochemistry.

Key features of the course are an individual research project based in Southampton and a 6-month placement either in industry, or in another academic institution. These projects prepare you for medicinal chemistry careers in areas such as pharmaceutical chemistry, biological chemistry and life sciences.

This course is run by the School of Mathematical Sciences. It's taught jointly by Mathematical Sciences and Physics and Astronomy, through the STAG (Southampton, Theory, Astronomy and Gravitation) research centre. The mathematical part of this course begins with the fundamental areas of calculus, linear algebra, vector calculus and partial differential equations.

The physics part includes the key ideas of relativity, cosmology and astrophysics, applications of laser technology, atomic and particle physics, and optoelectronics.

On this MMath Mathematics degree, you’ll work with leading researchers who’ll introduce you to pure and applied maths. With this 3-year marine biology course, you'll explore all forms of marine life. You'll gain advanced knowledge and practical skills to solve environmental challenges.
