This MPhys Physics with Mathematics course provides a unique opportunity to study physics with a 6-month, paid industry placement in your fourth year. You can immediately apply your knowledge to a commercial development project through an internship, while gaining experience that will make you stand out to employers.

This flagship master's course is offered to all students on our Master of Physics degree at the end of year 2.

We regularly place students with companies such as global radiation detection company Symetrica, fibre laser specialists NKT Photonics, and electronics and engineering consultancy Roke Manor Research Ltd.

Unlike the sandwich-year placements offered by many other universities, this industrial placement won’t add an extra year to your studies.

That means you’ll be able to enter the job market after 4 years with real-world professional skills and a commercial awareness that will impress employers.

Civil engineering is essential to the development of our society, from planning to construction. Our 4-year, integrated master's course goes beyond the 3-year degree, and lets you specialise in an area of your choosing. You'll develop the design, management and teamwork skills that employers look for. Major engineering companies often get involved in our group design projects.

This MEng Civil Engineering course follows the BEng Civil Engineering degree for the first 3 years. In the fourth year, you can choose to focus on specialist topics, including:

The group project in year 4 lets you apply your conceptual engineering and scientific knowledge to an engineering design problem. On this BSc Population and Geography degree you'll explore the effects of changing populations and societies in the 21st century. You’ll look at population and geography across the developed and developing world. These skills will allow you to pursue careers such as population analyst, regional planner or social researcher. The programme responds to employers’ increasing demand for quantitative skills.

This course covers how human populations change and the causes and consequences of these changes. Topics you'll cover include migration, population growth, global health, inequality, and globalisation.

With this course, you’ll learn how chemistry and the biological sciences combine to help us understand every aspect of the treatment of disease. This allows scientists to create new treatments and therapies.

This MChem Chemistry with Medicinal Sciences degree specialises in pharmacology and medicinal chemistry. You’ll study topics such as natural product chemistry, physiology and biochemistry.

This is a new course. The course is currently undergoing the accreditation process for the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). Once accreditation is granted the course will qualify as meeting the educational requirements for chartered engineer status.
