Qualified electrical engineers are desperately needed by the power industry. There is also a severe shortage of power engineering expertise in other sectors, such as government bodies and finance organisations, where a detailed knowledge of energy supply and demand is increasingly important. This shortage comes as societies develop and adapt to pressing environmental and economic constraints, dwindling reserves of fossil fuels, and the emergence of new energy technologies.

This course will give you the knowledge and skills required for a career in electrical power engineering and is an opportunity to update your knowledge with the latest developments in renewable energy and smart grids.

You will receive practical and theoretical training in two core modules and further specialisation as well as broader knowledge in six optional modules of your choice. Teaching at Master’s level places greater emphasis on practical work than at undergraduate level. This includes coursework reports and learning state-of-the-art specialised research subfields.

After completing successfully the taught portion of the course, you will continue for a further ten weeks to put your knowledge into practice through a dissertation.

This degree, which is accredited by the British Psychological Society, draws on Warwick’s research strengths and agendas across the Department of Psychology and Education Studies. The issues of learning and teaching are key in both disciplines, making them a natural academic combination.

If you are interested in a career working with children, young people, schools and families, the course will give you an understanding of education, development, and behavior from a psychological perspective.

Our students have previously undertaken study abroad opportunities in Brazil, China, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and the USA. Typically, when students choose to study abroad, they apply in their second year for the third year of study at a partner institution. Students then return to Warwick for their final year.

The course seeks to prepare you to become Global Citizens with a conscience, equipped with knowledge and understanding of the key issues of sustainable development from across a broad range of disciplines.

Adopting a problem-based approach, which fosters the investigation of issues using a range of means of enquiry used by researchers from the sciences, arts and social sciences fields, you will work with peers from other Global Sustainable Development (GSD) courses to explore the different approaches and solutions offered, their implications and limitations and their inter-connectivity.

You’ll be stimulated to think critically and creatively about contemporary problems of global significance and to explore ethically and morally complex areas in the search for positive interventions with a beneficial impact. Embracing new opinions from your peers across the world, we will challenge you to become an active participant in your own learning.

Study abroad

You may choose to apply for an intercalated year spent either studying abroad or on a work placement (subject to you meeting departmental academic requirements). This will mean extending your course to four years.

If you want to extend your learning and broaden your perspective by studying abroad for a year, Warwick has partnerships with universities across the world. You will spend your first and second years at Warwick, studying abroad in your third year. You will then return to Warwick for your final year.

Combining the study of German language, culture and contemporary society with in-depth business practice, this degree is split between the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, and Warwick Business School.

On the Business Studies side you can take many different pathways through your course including human resource management, accounting, finance, principles of organisational behaviour, production and operations management, industrial relations, corporate strategy, and auditing.

The German side of the degree enables you to acquire in-depth knowledge of German (business) language, culture, society and history.

You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you will move to a three-year. You will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

Our MSc will appeal to you if you have a strong background in the subject and wish to gain advanced and rigorous training in modern economics, as preparation for a career as a professional economist or analyst.

You will receive advanced teaching in the core areas of macroeconomic and microeconomic theory, econometrics and research methods, and you will also be able to choose from a wide portfolio of optional modules.

An 8,000-word dissertation provides an opportunity to explore your own interests across these fields of study. You will be automatically enrolled on a pre-sessional Mathematics and Statistics programme to equip you with the relevant methodological skills you need to succeed.

By the end of the course, you will be able to read and understand research papers and articles in academic journals, build theoretical models, and initiate empirical research and evaluate its findings.

Our single honors Philosophy course offers a broad range of modules as well as the freedom to choose your own path through the subject. You will learn how to think carefully and critically about a variety of philosophical questions.

Topics you may study include:

• What does it mean to know something, and what can we know?
• What does leading a good life consist in?
• Is the mind identical to the brain?
• Should we impose limits on human enhancement?
• Your first year is designed to help you develop the skills and confidence to succeed on your selected path. You will learn through a variety of teaching and assessment methods in order to foster your development as an independent learner and to help you develop the skills needed to pursue a range of careers.

In your second and your final year, there is a broad array of optional modules to choose from, which allow you to sample a number of different areas of philosophy, or specialise in a particular area of philosophy, such as continental philosophy, or philosophy of mind.

You may also choose to apply for an intercalated year, spent either studying abroad or on a work placement. This extends the duration of your degree to four years and will be reflected in your degree qualification (for example, BA Philosophy with Intercalated Year, or BA Philosophy with Work Placement).

Study abroad

We run successful undergraduate exchanges with Queen’s University, Ontario, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, enabling second-year Philosophy students (single or joint honors) to compete for the chance to spend a full year studying in North America. Modules and examinations are taken at Queen’s and Madison count towards your degree.

All students have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated year abroad at one of our partner universities, which currently include: Bourgogne, Dijon; Erasmus, Rotterdam; Copenhagen; Friedrich Schiller, Jena or Cologne; Vienna; Autonoma or Complutense, Madrid or Seville; Rome or Turin; and Koc, Istanbul. The Study Abroad Team offers support for these activities, and the Department’s dedicated Study Abroad Co-ordinator can provide more specific information and assistance.

This programme analyses European politics explicitly in the context of both International Relations (IR) and International Political Economy (IPE). It is designed for students keen to understand past and present international relations of Europe, and the EU, amidst times of crisis and in a constantly changing world.

The combination of IR, IPE and the EU makes this programme distinct from many others. The economic crisis in Europe, Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic provide an opportunity to explore how the EU is shaped internally and can respond externally to growing political, economic and societal challenges. This course examines the EU, its significance in and for the world system, its relationships with key developed and emerging countries and regions, and the various ways in which it engages with the international milieu on issues of global significance.

PPE is an ideal choice if you are fascinated by current affairs and want to gain a broad and rounded understanding of the world around you. Deepen your understanding of why and how governing institutions and big businesses make decisions, how the consequences of these actions influence our world and impact on our futures, and what would make for a better and more just society.

After building solid foundations in each of the three subjects in your first year, you then have the flexibility to tailor your module choices to suit your own interests. This allows you to graduate with either a BA or a BSc.

Your enthusiasm for the three interconnected disciplines will be rewarded with teaching from excellent lecturers who are equally enthusiastic about their topics. Our world-leading researchers will teach you a diverse range of modules from within our three large and highly-ranked departments.

We offer one of the largest and most international PPE programs in the UK. You will learn alongside students from many backgrounds and cultures. You can share different insights and perspectives on the topics you cover at the intersections of the three subjects.

You also have the opportunity to apply to spend a year abroad with one of our international partners. On certain pathways, you can also apply to take a work placement.

Enhance and develop your background in accounting, while exploring theories and cutting-edge techniques in finance on our MSc Accounting and Finance course.

Study accounting in its wider social context, and examine how accounting and reporting decisions affect markets and companies. The course is designed to give you all the accounting and finance tools needed to step into a wide range of financial and accounting careers in an international environment.
