Global sustainable development requires a global political dialogue.

Understanding key political concepts, ideologies, and practices of national and international governments is essential for providing solutions for sustainable development. This course considers testing questions such as:

Why do states marginalise human rights in place of geopolitical aims?
Why has water and food security become a critical foreign policy concern for governments?
Why does political gridlock frequently emerge in discussions on climate change?
You will seek to answer these questions, combining theoretical and analytical approaches from Politics with the transdisciplinary approach of GSD.

Our Advanced Mechanical Engineering MSc focuses on the key skills required by the modern mechanical engineer.

You will develop the versatility and depth of knowledge to deal with new and unusual challenges across a wide range of disciplines, within engineering and beyond. Teaching is underpinned by research in automotive systems, biomedical engineering, solid and fluid mechanics, electrical and thermal energy systems, energy conversion/storage and sustainable cities.

You will also complete an individual research project – an in-depth experimental, theoretical or computational investigation of a topic chosen by you in conjunction with your academic supervisor.

Sociology – the study of humans in society – is at the heart of the roadmap towards a sustainable future. Each of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals has a sociological aspect, and understanding the social implications of world trade, economic growth, and climate change has never been more critical.

Since the birth of the neoliberal era, major global transformations have redefined societies across the world. Sociologists are now focusing on why the current organisation of society might itself be unsustainable, researching innovative solutions to develop social-environmental relationships that are less environmentally harmful.

On this course, you will combine sociological concepts, including race, identity, ethnicity, and gender, and apply these to global issues such as wealth inequality, elite power, and food security. Our transdisciplinary approach also gives you the freedom to research the topics that most interest you.

We encourage you to take the opportunity to study abroad during your course at Warwick.

• Enjoy the freedom to take chances with your module choices.

• You may have the opportunity to learn a new language and immerse yourself in a new learning context.
• You may choose to apply for an intercalated year spent either studying abroad or on a work placement (subject to you meeting departmental academic requirements). This will mean extending your course to four years.

If you want to extend your learning and broaden your perspective by studying abroad for a year, Warwick has partnerships with universities across the world. You will spend your first and second years at Warwick, studying abroad in your third year. You will then return to Warwick for your final year.

This MSc offers you the opportunity to study key business areas, whilst specialising in the field of marketing. Modules taught by our expert lecturers will give you a grounding in the foundational areas of business, as well as offering you the chance to gain specific insight through marketing modules of your choosing.

There is a choice of Dissertation or Business in Practice route. If you are considering further academic study (PhD) and you would like the opportunity to research a topic relating to marketing, the dissertation enables you to test and apply the techniques and theories you have gained.

If you would like to develop further applied skills and specialist knowledge to suit your career aspirations, you can complete your studies with one additional elective module and our applied Business in Practice module.

This degree allows you to develop an in-depth knowledge of German language and culture while also exploring theatre and performance studies through both practice and theory.

You benefit from the full range of expertise on offer in both departments, including cultural and historical modules in the School of Modern Languages, and specialisms in the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies including theatre in the African context, contemporary European theatre, applied theatre and playwriting.

You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning. If you are studying German for the first time, your year abroad will normally be in your third year.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you will move to a three-year. You will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

In this degree, understand and critically engage with the political world. Study the French language and Francophone society and culture. Explore theoretical and empirical approaches to political ideas with an emphasis on France.

Political theory, international relations and French language modules provide the core of the degree. Independent and collaborative study in these areas will develop your abilities in investigative and evaluative research, presentation and critical analysis, and build strong written and oral French communication skills.

The degree features a compulsory year abroad either studying or working in a French-speaking country. You can choose to be abroad in Year Two or Three.

This course allows you to combine the study of philosophy with any/all of three arts disciplines. Warwick has been a home for interdisciplinary work in philosophy and literature since the early days of the university.

This degree is designed to take advantage of our strengths across Philosophy, English and Comparative Literary Studies, History of Art, and Film and Television Studies. Warwick has excellent research strength in all of these areas, and it also has considerable scholarly interaction across these fields, especially through the programming of the Centre for Research in Philosophy, Literature and the Arts.

This degree studies the political world, with an emphasis on the Italian language and culture. This joint honors degree gives you the opportunity to acquire Italian language skills while receiving thorough training in the study of Politics and International Studies.

It is split 50:50 between Politics and International Studies and Italian with the option of a 75:25 split in either discipline in the final year. You will critically engage with the political world from national and global perspectives, exploring the theoretical and empirical approaches to political ideas. Our programme is a disciplinary degree that focuses on the region for its case studies and offers strong disciplinary expertise combined with genuine regional expertise.

East Asia’s emergence as the most dynamic region in the global political economy continues despite a series of economic and security crises since the early 1990s. If anything, the crises reinvigorated the study of the international relations and political economy of East Asia. Instead of just focusing on economic growth, the crises highlighted key actors’ interests and historical and ideational factors behind them, the impact of globalisation on the region and existing development paradigms, US-China great power competition, and the need for greater regional cooperation to cope with future security and economic risks.
