Critically analysing education in a fast-changing globalised world, the BA (Hons) Education Studies will introduce you to creative and forward-thinking approaches to teaching and learning.

It will also enable you to develop your understanding of contemporary educational policy at both global and local levels, while exploring the background to the history and development of education.

You will gain hands-on experience through a work-based placement, with tailored career advice throughout the course. From across sociology and allied social sciences, you will gain a thorough understanding of theories and methodologies. Then you will have the opportunity to tailor your programme to your own specific interests through our wide range of options.

Your period of study will involve you examining individuals’ experiences, and encounters with structures and institutions; reading new empirical research; exploring social theories; and assessing innovative methodologies.

Qualified electrical engineers are desperately needed by the power industry. There is also a severe shortage of power engineering expertise in other sectors, such as government bodies and finance organisations, where a detailed knowledge of energy supply and demand is increasingly important. This shortage comes as societies develop and adapt to pressing environmental and economic constraints, dwindling reserves of fossil fuels, and the emergence of new energy technologies.

This course will give you the knowledge and skills required for a career in electrical power engineering and is an opportunity to update your knowledge with the latest developments in renewable energy and smart grids.

This innovative MA course is one of the first in the UK to focus specifically on global history, offering you the chance to investigate one of the most dynamic areas of current historical enquiry and debate. Most modules are taught by a team of experts, ensuring that you are exposed to as many different viewpoints and approaches as possible.

In the first term you will study two core modules. ‘Theory, Skills and Methods’ provides a foundation in historical methods and theoretical frameworks used to study society and culture from the early modern period to the contemporary world. ‘Themes in global history’ examines this emerging field, the methods it adopts, the subject areas it addresses and the criticisms it has attracted. Throughout, you are encouraged to explore how the global can be investigated in relation to the regional and the local, as part of wider debates on historical methods and interpretation. This provides a route into studying major regions of the globe, including Latin America, India and China.

In the second term, you will select two optional modules in which you can explore themes and approaches to the historical study of religious cultures; gender and sexuality; science and technology; empire; consumption and the medical humanities.

The final key element is the dissertation - here you have a large amount of freedom to develop a project of your own choice with help and guidance from your supervisor who will meet with you throughout the third term. Throughout the year, you will be able to take advantage of the Department’s six research centres, especially the Global History and Culture Centre, and participate in the lively schedule of academic research seminars, lectures and conferences.

The programme will appeal equally to those wishing to undertake further postgraduate study and those pursuing a career outside of the University, equipping you with research, writing and critical thinking skills vital in a range of professions.

All Engineering students at Warwick develop an in-depth understanding of the classical principles of Engineering by following a general engineering programme for the first four terms.

As a student on the Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree, you will continue to study the same modules as those on the Electronic Engineering programme until the end of the second year. The later years of the degree cover power electronics, electrical machines, systems modelling and the operation and control of power systems.

By choosing the MEng degree you can explore specialist areas of Electrical and Electronic Engineering through fourth-year core and optional module choices and a group project.

Study abroad

You may choose to take an intercalated year in industry, research or study abroad between years two and three (BEng and MEng), or between years three and four (MEng only). If you choose to take an intercalated year, this will be reflected in your degree title, and add a year to your degree programme.

As an MEng student you may choose to take your third year as an exchange year at a partner university abroad, subject to academic requirements and approval of study programme.

Your first year lays the foundations, including study of either Latin or Ancient Greek, while your second and third years offer an enormous choice of modules across all three departments.

Two of your core modules – Problems in Philosophy and Literature, and Textual Studies – are taught jointly across departments, giving you the opportunity to combine these interests directly.

If you wish to expand your experience beyond your study at Warwick, we can support you to apply for an intercalated year abroad or on a work placement. This extends the duration of your degree to four years, with your third year spent abroad or on placement, and will be reflected in your degree qualification (i.e. BA Philosophy, Literature and Classics with Intercalated Year).

Following an in-depth foundation in biochemistry, this course broadens out to allow a focus on more specialist fields. These include biophysical chemistry, which covers biological macromolecules at the atomic level, and understanding the genome and gene regulation.

Our exceptionally wide range of options allow you to pursue areas that interest you.

You will graduate with a sound understanding of the biochemical and structural basis of molecular, cellular and development processes in a variety of organisms.

You will benefit from our tutorial system for academic and pastoral support, alongside high-quality laboratory time.

By studying linguistics together with Chinese, you will explore the fascinating human capacity for language, while also building your fluency in Chinese. As a linguist, you will learn about the structure and function of language, and about relationships between language and society.

You will also study and practice written and oral communication in Chinese, and learn broadly about communicating across languages and cultures. Your skills in linguistic analysis will support your language learning, and your knowledge of Chinese will complement your work as a linguist. This course opens many career opportunities that require the knowledge and skills of both a modern language and a deep understanding of language, culture and communication.

(75% linguistics, 25% Chinese).

Study abroad

• If you wish to spend a year abroad (which we thoroughly recommend), this will take place in your third year, meaning that you will complete your degree in four years instead of three. All students have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated year abroad at one of our partner universities.
• The Student Mobility Team offers support for these activities, and the Department's dedicated Study Abroad Co-ordinator can provide more specific information and assistance.

This degree, which is accredited by the British Psychological Society, draws on Warwick’s research strengths and agendas across the Department of Psychology and Education Studies. The issues of learning and teaching are key in both disciplines, making them a natural academic combination.

If you are interested in a career working with children, young people, schools and families, the course will give you an understanding of education, development, and behavior from a psychological perspective.

Typically, when students choose to study abroad, they apply in their second year for the third year of study at a partner institution. Students then return to Warwick for their final year.
