The Master in Social Work (Hons) is a professional qualification which entitles you to apply to register as a social worker: a challenging and rewarding career.

Our integrated Masters in Genetics examines how the massive innovation in DNA sequencing technologies has revolutionised our knowledge and understanding of living systems, and makes it a particularly exciting time to be studying this subject.

This course is ideal if you want an interdisciplinary approach to Genetics. You will have a wide range of options to tailor the course to your developing interests.

Our Genetics degree encompasses the molecular studies of genes and genetic engineering. You’ll learn about fundamental processes like gene expression, the impacts of genetic engineering and the role of rapidly developing technologies. You’ll examine different systems and scales whether in the field of human genetics and disease through to population genetics. The integrated Masters course introduces a four-year programme that specifically focuses on the skills needed for a career as a research scientist. This course will enable you to understand contemporary international events, their causes and repercussions in great depth, through theoretical debates – and how those debates resonate in distinct issue areas and contexts.

Chemistry is often referred to as the 'central science'. It covers topics as diverse as quantum mechanics and the study of atomic particles, to the molecular nature of biological systems and the Human Genome Project.

This degree will give you a strong grounding in fundamental chemistry. You'll also develop specialist knowledge of chemistry for biology and medicine, from the use of powerful microscopes to investigate the causes of genetic disease to exploring new treatments for cancer.

Students who have a Bachelors degree in Economics with a very high average mark and a research proposal of outstanding quality can apply for the 1+3 PhD. This gives you the chance to first study for a Masters then a PhD in Economics.
