Recent advances in digital audio technology have seen an explosion of interest in surround sound for home entertainment and virtual reality, voice recognition and synthesis applications, as well as environmental and architectural acoustics.

This course provides thorough grounding in scientific theory and creative engineering techniques in audio technology, audio analysis and audio programming. It will prepare you for further research or employment in the audio technology and digital creative industries.

Investigate the art, literature, history, culture and thought of the post-1945 era. Explore topics from social media to the making of the contemporary world, cultural heritage management to globalisation, from art and the environment to justice.

On this flexible course you'll study with leading experts in their field from the Departments of Archaeology, English, History, History of Art, Sociology and the Centre for Women’s Studies. We'll introduce you to the various means by which different disciplines conceptualise and analyse the period. You can construct a programme that suits your interests and develops your transferable skills in interdisciplinary research.

You’ll engage with the wider research culture of the Centre for Modern Studies, and there will be a diverse schedule of seminars, conferences and reading groups for you to attend. You’ll also be part of the Humanities Research Centre, a vibrant interdisciplinary hub which will enable you to form close social and intellectual bonds over the course of your study.

The MA in Women’s Studies (Humanities) is a tailored programme for those with a particular interest in humanities-informed approaches to interdisciplinary women’s and gender studies.

You'll address a diverse range of theoretical and methodological approaches to women's and gender studies, developing a critical awareness of the gendered aspects of cultural life, representation and textual enquiry.

You will have the opportunity to focus on a variety of cultural perspectives and practices – literary, visual, and artistic – from both contemporary and historical cultures and across a range of geographical and societal spaces. The emphasis on humanities-informed feminist methodologies and practical research skills will enable you to conduct a substantial piece of independent research.

On this MA you can choose from a wide range of option modules. You'll also be able to create a substantial piece of research following your own interests, with our support. You'll develop valuable transferable skills in research, analysis, critical thinking and presentation which will be essential if you are thinking of continuing to study to PhD level. The skills that you develop on the course will also equip you for a range of careers.

You’ll join our postgraduate community across both the Department of Philosophy and York Law School, and will be invited to participate in our broad and diverse research culture.

The programme is built around core dissection-based modules covering the whole body. You will carry out whole-body dissection in small teaching groups during formal dissection sessions, and at your own pace in your own self-directed learning time, using cadavers embalmbed with both Thiel, that ensures material is as close to living tissue as possible, and Formalin, that keeps the material in defined anatomical relationships.

This programme also provides a comprehensive professional education that focuses on developing teachers and researchers of anatomy. You can choose from a range of Education electives, where you will study alongside students on the MSc in Health Professions Education programme, accredited by the Higher Education Academy. Your research project/dissertation will also cover an educational topic.

You will have the unique opportunity to learn from experts in their field who are at the forefront of new developments in clinical anatomy and health professions education, as well as visiting surgeons and consultants. As well as learning from their expertise, you will be challenged to think differently and learn skills to become a self-directed learner as you continue to develop your anatomy knowledge throughout your clinical career – and ultimately make a difference to patients’ lives.

You will benefit from guest seminars from visiting surgeons and consultants, who will bring patient cases to share with you, so you can apply your knowledge to a clinical setting. These experts come from a range of specialities including plastic, thoracic and orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, radiologists and emergency medicine doctors.

You can choose to study full-time for one year, or part-time over two or three years to fit around your work and home life.
