This MSc combines cutting-edge theory with the practical, applied skills you'll need to become an effective researcher or industry specialist. You'll benefit from state-of-the-art facilities in the York Biomedical Research Institute and expertise spanning several areas relevant to molecular medicine, including cancer, immunology, microbiology, neuroscience and parasitology.

Develop your mathematical and statistical skills and prepare for a career in quantitative business analysis.

You'll learn to use sophisticated tools from a broad range of mathematical disciplines, such as calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics, to sharpen your mathematical and statistical reasoning. Alongside this, you'll develop an in-depth knowledge of the context in which business analysts, quantitative finance officers ('quants') and operations managers work.

You'll expand your knowledge of theoretical concepts, with a particular focus on finance and operations. Spending a year in industry is an opportunity to apply the techniques you learn to practical business problems.

From the nuclear reactions that power our sun to the mysteries of dark matter, you'll study the great challenges of cosmology in topics aligned with our active research.

To explore the cosmos you'll need grounding in many disciplines of physics, from optics to electromagnetism, quantum physics to classical mechanics. Psychologists use observation and experimental evidence to understand the relationship between our sensations and actions but also the intervening processes that underlie our behaviour. Social psychology studies interactions, group behaviour and culture. Cognitive neuroscience examines the mechanisms of the individual brain, right down to its cells and the connections between them.
