It’s important for kids to stay healthy, and in order to do that they need to move and have a better understanding of their health. With a degree in K-12 physical education, you will teach students the importance of exercise and health education in order to set them up for a healthy lifestyle.

To become a physical education teacher, there is a variety of coursework involved. You will have a better understanding of the human body with exercise physiology, motor development, anatomy, and physiology. You’ll also learn the ins and out of health education with personal, family, and community health. To get to this point, you’ll gain clinical experience and feel prepared to support learners with adaptive physical education needs. Upon completion of the program, you will receive a Physical Education, Health, Athletic Coaching, and Adaptive Physical Education license.

This is an intense field, and it takes a lot of work and dedication to prepare you for your Society of Actuaries Exams. That’s why it’s an incredible benefit to you that our program consists of small class sizes to maximize the personal attention you get from your professors. It really makes all the difference, and will get you where you need to go quicker.

The program itself encompasses a three-part curriculum that includes a liberal arts core, a business common body of knowledge, and a specialization in actuarial science. So in addition to classes like Econometrics, International Business, and Linear Algebra and Differential Equations, you’ll round out your education with classes in literature, history, and theology.

Yes, it’s demanding. But it’s incredibly rewarding as well. High school students are encouraged to get as many AP credits as you can before you begin the actuarial science program. Once you’re in the program, we strongly encourage you to take (and pass, obviously) your SOA Exams P and FM while you’re still in college. It’s especially important for you to pass your Exam P before or during your junior year, because it’s the only way you’ll be able to secure an actuarial science internship.

It will also teach you how to be an effective healthcare administrator, how to evaluate research results applicable to a healthcare practice, and how to demonstrate effective communication – in writing and presentations.

This program will help you grow adept at analyzing different healthcare systems. You’ll grow an ability to synthesize knowledge from the sciences, humanities, and management theories as a basis for problem-solving and decision-making. This program explores the economic problems faced by individuals, business, and nations by offering courses in the historical, practical, theoretical, and empirical aspects of economics. You will graduate with a firm understanding of the basis of the discipline and be prepared to position yourself and your organization to survive and thrive in any environment. You’ll be qualified to seek employment in the private, public, or nonprofit sector or to seek advanced degrees and graduate study.

You might expect to master the models and competing theoretical frameworks that shape economics in a program like this one – and you’d be right on the money. You’ll also study the factors that drive human behavior in the marketplace and the principles and theories of macro and micro-economics. CUW’s exercise physiology program can help you harness the expertise needed to be others’ guide on their path to optimal health.

By choosing to major in our exercise physiology program, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn about the human body and how it responds and adapts to the stress of physical exertion. You’ll be exposed to the theoretical knowledge required to conduct safe and effective fitness evaluations for at-risk populations, and you’ll have ample opportunity to put that knowledge into practice through hands-on learning experiences.

In Concordia’s own Exercise Physiology Laboratory, you’ll learn to assess cardiovascular, neuromuscular, and pulmonary responses. And you’ll spend quite a bit of time studying the sciences to develop a broad understanding of the mechanics within the human body. With all of this knowledge, you can graduate well-prepared to sit for the nationally recognized certification exams offered through the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Once you graduate, you can choose to either immediately enter the workforce or pursue professional/graduate studies.

More and more, actuaries use data analytics to help assess risk and inform policy. Concordia's new Actuarial & Data Sciences major meets the market's demands by preparing students with current, relevant knowledge and skills in both actuarial science and data analytics.

Actuarial science is an intense field, and will require a sharp, analytical mind, coupled with hard work and dedication to pass the certification exams and practice as an actuary. But it is a rewarding field, and in high demand. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay is over $110K, and the demand for actuaries is expected to increase 24% by 2030.

Actuaries assess risk to help make wise decisions for their organizations. Most actuaries work in insurance, but they can also work in finance, healthcare administration, wealth management, and any other industry where predictions and decisions must be made to mitigate risk.

Like all industries, the actuarial science profession is constantly changing to adapt to new technologies. With the computing capabilities that we now have, actuaries are increasingly dependent on data science and analytics. In 2021, the Society of Actuaries announced a change in their Associate of the SOA (ASA) education requirements, including an updated curriculum designed to meet employer and market demands for increased coverage of data analytics.

Robotics, virtual reality, and videogames are often cited as future job areas, but you could also be a part of many other fields—animation, music, automobiles, analytics…the list goes on.

What comes to mind when you think of computer science? In our modern world, there are decreasingly fewer things that don't rely on computers and technology in some shape or form, making computer science one of the most practical and versatile fields of study out there. At Concordia, we define computer science as solving problems using technology. If you can learn to create and manage technology solutions, you can apply your skills to just about any career path.

With five different concentrations available and substantial flexibility in electives, you have the power to customize this degree and make it your own. In this program, you'll receive a well-rounded education through the Concordia Core, as well as a firm foundation of computer science knowledge through our Technology Core. You'll learn the ins and outs of hardware, software, operating systems, databases, coding, and user interfaces. From there, you can branch out into one or more concentrations of computer science, specializing in the areas that are of most interest to you. You can use your electives to earn multiple concentrations, or to explore coursework in any other field at Concordia, broadening your knowledge base.

You’ll be taking 25 credits of required coursework to give you a firm basis in drawing, color, design, art history, and aesthetics (the stuff that everyone who is serious about art needs to be aware of). But after that, you get to choose what aspects of art to focus on. We’ve got plenty of options to pick from and you’ve got 15 credits worth of courses to fill with whatever 2D or 3D electives inspire you!

By the time you finish this program you’ll have refined your artistic skills creating original designs, manipulating imagery, and applying design principles to visual communication. As you develop your unique artistic style, you will have a clearer understanding of how your artistic talents make a difference in the world. You will have an opportunity to showcase your work with an exhibit in the CUW Art Gallery and to assemble a professional portfolio highlighting the best of your work.
