The program is also suited for students who were not necessarily undergraduate philosophy majors or else need additional preparation or qualifications before pursuing work at the doctoral level or in professional programs in medicine, law, technology and business, science, etc.

The objective of the international business option is to prepare students for the increasingly competitive and interdependent international business world with which they must cope. There is great and growing need for American business school graduates to be better informed about how to compete and do business outside the U. S. as well as in the U. S. market where much of their competition is from foreign firms. Students need to understand how international business practices and customs differ from those in the U. S. They need at least some familiarity with a language other than English as well as with cultural diversity and world geography.

The Chemical Engineering bachelor degree program's educational objective statement is directed towards the career accomplishments and expectations of the alumni. The objectives of the program are that recent alumni become successful in their professional careers, and that they continue on a path of professional development.

The Master of Arts Degree in Education, Option in Social and Cultural Analysis of Education (SCAE), focuses on the social and cultural analysis of education in urban and global contexts. Emphasizing critical approaches to education, including critical theory and critical pedagogy, the degree's interdisciplinary nature provides the intellectual rigor necessary for analyzing the relationship between education and society and effecting social and educational justice. SCAE courses examine education in its historical, social, and political contexts, and may be applied to all levels of education—locally, nationally, and internationally. In the SCAE program, education is conceived broadly to encompass K-12 and higher education, community-based education, adult education and other spaces in which people engage in teaching and learning.

Film and Electronic Arts is an innovative program that emphasizes both theory and practice. Focusing on the integration of moving images, culture, and technology, the curriculum is designed to develop storytelling and production skills while providing a foundational education in the arts and humanities. Media history, theory, and aesthetics are taught as an integral part of production practices.

The Community Health Education option is designed for persons whose occupational objective is to serve as a community health educator with a public, not for profit or corporate health agency.

The Master of Music degree program provides professional concentrations in Composition, Conducting-Instrumental, Conducting-Choral, Jazz Studies, Opera Performance and Instrumental/Vocal Performance.

Comparative World Literature studies:

• World literatures in translation and the relationships among those literatures
• The relationship between literature and other fields such as art, music, history, philosophy and theatre.

The Bachelor of Arts in Comparative World Literature has three emphasis options:

The Sport and Exercise Psychology Master of Science program is designed to prepare students for careers in sport and exercise psychology, in particular as athletic performance enhancement specialists and/or as researchers and teachers in academic settings. The Sport and Exercise Psychology Master of Science program consists of 36 units. Students are required to take core classes, elective courses, and have the option to complete a thesis or comprehensive exam/capstone. Courses are designed to facilitate those seeking AASP certification and applied opportunities are available for students to accumulate mentored experience hours.

Food Science is the study of the physical, biological and chemical make up of food and the concepts underlying food processing. Food technology is the application of food science to the selection, preservation, processing, packaging distribution and use of safe food.
