For the modern business enterprise, utilizing information effectively is key to creating a competitive advantage. An MS in Information Systems from Seattle Pacific bridges the gap between business and technology, preparing students for leadership at the intersection of technology and business. With the STEM designated MS-IS program, leaders are developed with the management, technology, and problem-solving skills they need to handle complex, globally integrated systems.

Through the applied, experiential, and collaborative-based curriculum at Seattle Pacific’s School of Business, Government, and Economics, students gain purpose-driven leadership skills. They also discover how IT, business principles, and ethical practice untie to lay a foundation to complex, globally integrated systems and service to others as an IT security professional, data analyst, project manager, information manager, or CIO.

As an Illustration major, students are trained in a variety of digital and traditional mediums, with an emphasis on building strong practical skills that can be applied in diverse ways. 

After mastering the foundation level curriculum including painting and figure drawing, students may choose to create coursework that emphasizes Illustration for Publishing, Illustration for Entertainment Design, Illustration for Surface Design, Motion design and Illustrative Fine Art.

The Business Administration major in the School of Business, Government, and Economics at SPU allows you to develop essential business skills in a uniquely Christian environment that emphasizes values, ethics, and an understanding of business as a means to serve.

The Business Administration major provides you with a broad-based education in the fundamental theories, principles, and practices of modern business. You will learn standards of professional and ethical behavior, along with the technical expertise and leadership attributes necessary to attain a variety of positions in business.

As part of the Business Administration major, students also gain vital industry experience by participating in our SBGE internship program. Our students have held internships at leading local businesses and companies such as Starbucks, Boeing, Microsoft, the Seattle Mariners, and Merrill Lynch.

The Public Policy & Business concentration focuses on coursework in Political Science and Economics to help prepare you to work at the intersection of commerce and government.

The Integrated Studies major enables you to develop a breadth of knowledge across six content areas you will teach in elementary school: the arts, health and fitness, language arts, mathematics, natural sciences, and social sciences. These are the six content disciplines of Washington state’s Endorsement Competencies for Elementary Education K–8.

If you want to be certified with an endorsement in Elementary Education, you will complete the requirements for (1) a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies and (2) the Residency Teacher Certification Program in the School of Education. As an English major or minor, you will encounter some of life’s fundamental questions about the human condition. You will think about the truth-telling possibilities of story, cultivating an understanding of the word as God’s uniquely human gift.

You will think, read, and write extensively in an English academic program marked by a strong degree of community both inside and outside the classroom. You will read texts including Beowulf, Shakespeare, and traditional great works of the Western canon as well as emerging voices worldwide.

And because the study of English also rests on the rigorous tools of critical thinking and textual interpretation, you will find an English major or minor is excellent preparation for life beyond the university as well.

The BS in Mathematics is designed to prepare you for graduate work or a professional career in mathematics.

If you enjoy numbers, problem-solving and analyzing data, mathematics is a major for you. You can become a financial analyst evaluating economic conditions to help a corporation make smart business decisions, or an actuary using data to predict health trends for an insurance company. Mathematicians work with chemical engineers to develop mathematical models that further research and development of products, and applied mathematicians collaborate with industrial designers to create the best aerodynamic conditions when designing airplanes, structures or cars.

A bachelor of science degree in Applied Human Biology from SPU is the ideal foundation if you plan to enter a physical therapy doctoral degree program after your undergraduate studies. The broad curriculum of this degree satisfies the basic requirements for entry into physical therapy as outlined by the American Physical Therapy Association.

Applied Human Biology Major
As an Applied Human Biology major, you’ll use an interdisciplinary approach to better understand human beings from biological and behavioral perspectives. You’ll examine the human condition through classes in anatomy and physiology, chemistry, psychology, biomechanics, and more.

When you receive a bachelor of science in Ecology at SPU, you will be ready to work in ecology or biological subdisciplines such as marine biology, forestry, fisheries, agriculture, behavioral ecology, and wildlife management. This major prepares you for graduate studies or a professional ecology/biology career.

About the Ecology Major

As an Ecology major, you will focus on principles that enhance environmental quality and make efficient use of nonrenewable resources. You will also learn to apply this knowledge to help address agricultural and environmental challenges.

The BS in Psychology is designed for students that are passionate about integrating psychology and natural sciences with the goal of pursuing careers or graduate programs such as but not limited to clinical psychology, behavioral or cognitive neuroscience, and animal behavior.

The BS program also prepares students for further study or employment in fields such as behavioral neurobiology, health psychology, and behavioral medicine.

Psychological Science: This track is designed for students with a broad range of career and graduate school interests but who are also passionate about integrating psychology and natural sciences. Students considering this track would be best prepared for careers or graduate programs such as, but not limited to: Clinical Psychology, Behavioral or Cognitive Neuroscience, and Animal Behavior. This track has the fewest credits required of our BS degrees (minimum of 88 credits, 50 upper division, and at least 20 credits while in residence at SPU). This lower credit requirement provides students with the most flexibility to take additional, strategic courses in Psychology or other disciplines as well as maximize research or internship experiences.

The Business Administration major at SPU provides a well-rounded foundation for business. It is a broad-based program in the fundamental theories, principles, and practices of modern business. This program has attained AACSB accreditation, which is the highest level of international certification for business schools.
