The B.F.A. is a professional art degree program that provides a more intensive course of study than the traditional B.A. in Art, with a specialization in Studio Art. The degree prepares students for entry into the professional art world and/or graduate school. In the B.F.A. program, students can concentrate in a number of studio areas, including Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Photography, and Ceramics, as well as New and Mixed Media. There are separate specialization programs for B.F.A. students studying Art, Digital Art and Graphic Design.

The College Student Affairs Administration (CSAA) program is designed for those students interested in a professional career in the various college and university student affairs and student services areas. Program participants will prepare for careers involving organisational management, student development, leadership training, and administration. Guided by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS), the curriculum includes selected foundational studies; student development theory; student characteristics and effects of college on students; individual, group, and organisational interventions; organisation and administration; and assessment and evaluation. The program also includes substantial supervised internship opportunities.

The master’s degree in College Student Affairs Administration is a 36 hour program designed to be completed in two years. The program includes a professional core in addition to an an opportunity to choose one advisor-approved elective. At least six hours of internship experience is included in the professional core. Internships are available in a wide variety of student affairs and student service areas. Students are encouraged to seek at least one internship experience away from the UWF campus.

Medical laboratory professionals are health care detectives. In this program, you will learn to gather evidence and uncover clues needed to effectively diagnose and treat patients.

Music Theatre
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre provides students with a hands-on, personalized education. Students work closely in classes and on stage with faculty who provide training and experience to accelerate students to a professional level. This program affords the opportunity for you to hone your craft with industry professionals.

Acting
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting degree provides students with a core curriculum that is challenging, dynamic, and relevant to today's professional theatre world.

Design/Technology
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design and Technology provides students with an interactive program that prepares them for careers in scenic, lighting, and costume design and the technology skills that support each field.

The B.A. in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences is for students wishing to pursue careers in fields that focus on solutions to some of society’s most pressing problems. Specializations available are Children & Society and Community Education. Courses in these specializations draw from multiple disciplines.

The mission of the Interdisciplinary Social Science Children and Society specialization is to prepare students to study, support, and work with children and their families. The program emphasizes the complex and interconnected issues and challenges faced by children and families in modern society. The broad focus enables students to explain phenomenon, solve problems, and raise new questions in ways uncommon through a single-disciplinary focus.

A bachelor’s degree in Psychology enables students to study human behavior.  An understanding of psychological processes entails understanding the multiple influences created by the biological characteristics of the organism, the effects of learning and experience, social and cultural dynamics, and developmental change.  As a scientific discipline, the study of psychology requires competence in research methodology and critical thinking.  Psychology is also an applied discipline with applications in behavioral and physical health, business, education, medicine, and law, among others.

Students completing the Bachelor of Science in Psychology will be prepared to pursue a wide range of science- and research-related careers at the bachelor’s level or to pursue an advanced degree in a STEM related field.  Students will attain a high-quality scientific degree focused on knowledge in the discipline of psychology, integrity in the application of that knowledge, effective project management, and excellent critical thinking and communication skills.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) degree with a major in Management Information Systems (M.I.S.) emphasizes information as a resource to be managed, planned, and controlled in much the same way as other organizational resources. This program of study presents the concepts and methods of analyzing, designing, planning, and managing simple or complex information systems within an organization. In addition, M.I.S. emphasizes the managerial aspects of information systems by providing a base of business instruction common to the College of Business programs.

The BSW in Social Work, accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, prepares students to enter beginning professional social work practice.

The M.S. in Environmental Science provides advanced research and educational opportunities in the earth and environmental sciences. Departmental areas of concentration include coastal science, paleoclimatology, landscape ecology, geographic information science, aquatic biogeochemistry, and soils science. The program includes both thesis and non-thesis tracks. The non-thesis track provides a foundation for employment in the private and public sectors of the environmental fields. In addition, the thesis track prepares students for advanced study leading to the doctoral degree. Contact the department for information regarding the graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

The M.S. in Mathematical Sciences offers students who hold a bachelor’s in mathematics, statistics, or related fields an opportunity to broaden their knowledge in several fields of mathematics, statistics, and their applications. The M.S. program is designed for students seeking careers in science, business, industry, or government; for students who want to teach in high schools or at the community college level; or for students who plan to pursue doctoral studies. The M.S. program offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics permits students considerable flexibility in choosing courses. For example, students who are seeking careers in financial/investment industries, banks, insurance companies, or government may choose more statistics courses that emphasize the use, adoption, and development of statistical methods and state-of-the-art computer technology in the analysis of data from problems in all fields of study.
