The HCC Sociology Associate in Arts degree pathway is for students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in sociology or a related degree at a university. Sociology is the scientific study of human behavior in society. Sociology associate students will examine a wide range of human interactions, including marriage and family, crime and deviance, culture and social change, group processes and interactions having to do with class, race and gender; diversity and globalization, social stratification and mobility and social movements.

Program courses will help develop the student’s ability to examine the broader connections between personal life, public issues and social structure. Many university programs require the completion of specific courses prior to acceptance. It is the student's responsibility to contact the institution to ensure transferability.

Please note only 60 of these credits are needed for AA degree completion. For each pathway, IDS 2891 is a degree requirement, and for most of the pathways, SLS 1106 is required for first-time-in-college students. CGS 2100 may be able to be tested out for no credit. The computer information technology AS degree prepares you for jobs such as PC support specialist, help desk specialist, microcomputer specialist, software specialist and information systems specialist.

The HCC Philosophy Associate in Arts degree pathway is a for students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in philosophy at a college or university. The associate degree provides students with the foundational knowledge required to enhance their understanding of philosophy as a critical inquiry of nature and human society, to analyze and evaluate major paradigms in philosophy from historical and contemporary perspectives, to sharpen critical thinking and argumentative skills, and to prepare students to transfer to a university.

This degree offers students a fundamental understanding of the main fields of philosophy, including logic, ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, social and political philosophy, aesthetics, and philosophy of religion while exposing students to a broad spectrum of philosophical theories. The HCC Mathematics Associate in Arts degree pathway is for students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree at a university in mathematics or a related field. The goal of the mathematics associates degree is to enhance students’ competence in the dynamic disciplines of mathematics and statistics, and includes coursework in college algebra, trigonometry and calculus I, II & III.
