The Art Department offers a rigorous, supportive and personalized environment with a sound liberal arts foundation. We are committed to developing in each student the capacity for creative problem-solving in making art. The Dorothy Young Center for the Arts is home to the department’s offerings. An outstanding faculty of practicing artists, dedicated to both their art practice and teaching excellence is teamed with a rare depth of facility: amazing studios, brilliant light, safety, technology, and space.

The Political Science and International Relations Department engages students in the study of how people govern themselves—from the smallest communities to the international system. In the town meeting, the halls of Congress or the United Nations, the great political questions are the same—how to reconcile individual aspirations and community needs, freedom and equality, authority and justice, participation and power.

The department offers students a major in Political Science and another one in International Relations. We also offer minors in Political Science, International Relations and Law Justice and Society.

Political Science is the study of how people govern themselves. The major provides students a solid grounding in American politics, international relations, comparative politics and political theory. Through thought-provoking courses and multiple experiential learning opportunities, including the possibility of taking courses in Washington, D.C., political science majors work closely with the faculty to explore politics and government from many different viewpoints.

International Year One General will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor’s degree program at Drew University.Upon successful completion of International Year One and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your third year of undergraduate study at Drew University or at a number of well-known US universities. This transition from an INTO program to a university degree program is called progression.

Religion, Comparative
Comparative Religion students are globalists, with expertise in analyzing the ways in which billions of people lead and evaluate their lives across the world and within American pluralism. With one foot in the humanities and the other in the social sciences, Comparative Religion is interdisciplinary in nature.

Through their study of world history and its shaping of current events, global comparative analysis and knowledge of ethical standards and practices, Comparative Religion students are equipped to understand multiple perspectives on today’s pressing issues in the U.S. and around the world, and to engage in informed discussion and decision making towards sustainable solutions. The vital contribution of Comparative Religion students’ globalist expertise has been recognized and noted by two recent U.S. Secretaries of State, as well as the National Council for the Social Studies.

The accounting program takes a rigorous, integrated, analytic, and critical approach to the study and practice of accounting. The curriculum gives students the tools and skills to analyze domestic and global organizations’ financial health.  We stress the importance of data-informed decisions and ethical considerations across the accounting field.  Our majors graduate prepared to work in a variety of accounting roles across public and private industries, while helping interested students prepare for the CPA exam and a career as a certified accountant.

Political Science
The Political Science and International Relations Department engages students in the study of how people govern themselves—from the smallest communities to the international system. The marketing major is a liberal arts program that takes an integrated, multidisciplinary, and critical approach to the study and practice of marketing. The major encompasses courses that emphasize strategic planning, data analysis, communication skills, and teamwork.  We will soon be offering a New York semester in marketing that gives our students the opportunities to meet with marketing experts and visit leading marketing firms.  Our graduates are prepared to work across many private and public organizations in a wide variety of marketing roles.

Physics
Physics provides much of the conceptual foundation and instrumentation fundamental to astronomy, engineering and other sciences. It has inspired the creative work of mathematicians, philosophers and social scientists. Drew’s program is designed to provide rigorous preparation for those planning careers in the field, while also serving the needs of liberal arts students interested in a variety of other careers.

Engineering Physics
Drew’s engineering physics major is designed to provide an ideal pathway for students interested in a career in engineering. The core curriculum is built around the physics, mathematics, chemistry and computer science courses that form the foundational knowledge of engineering and introduce the engineering/design mindset required to solve today’s complex problems. Students pursuing engineering physics at Drew will be broadly trained with both strong technical skills and other critical transferable skills for effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. Some graduates continue their engineering studies through combined degree programs with Columbia and Washington University or through other graduate programs. Others pursue careers in fields ranging from acoustical engineering to computer aided design or solid state device fabrication.

The Graduate Pathway in Finance will prepare you to enter your next semester of a master’s degree program at Drew University. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Pathway and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your next year of graduate study at a number of well-known US universities. Finance
Drew’s STEM-designated Master of Science in Finance (MS) program is a rigorous 30 credit immersion in the quantitative and analytical methods and tools used in financial services today.

Building on Drew’s two decades of success with our unique Wall Street Semester and strong ties to the financial services industry, MS students receive the training and credentials needed to succeed in careers in a variety of organizations, including banks, financial firms, global corporations, government agencies and nonprofits.
Unique to the Drew MS in Finance program, participating students will have opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills through financial internships, in the real world, after completing classroom coursework. Likewise, Drew’s co-curricular programming includes guest lectures and trips into NYC to visit financial firms, regulators, and even nonprofits centered on promoting ethical financial behavior and financial literacy.

International Year One in Natural Sciences will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor’s degree program at Drew University. Upon successful completion of International Year One and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your third year of undergraduate study at Drew University or at a number of well-known US universities. Neuroscience
The Neuroscience major at Drew is an interdisciplinary program of study that allows students to explore the brain from the perspectives of many different disciplines, including biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, philosophy, and psychology. The neuroscience curriculum introduces students to current theories that explain how the brain works at a variety of levels, from molecules to behavior. Intermediate and advanced coursework provides students with the opportunity to develop an increasingly more sophisticated understanding of neural and cognitive processes, while providing them with the critical thinking and technical skills necessary to actively address some of the pressing questions in neuroscience today. In addition, the wide range of electives provides students with the opportunity to think about the workings of the brain in a broader context, and to expand their study of neuroscience beyond its traditional roots in biology and psychology.
