Information Systems

This program focuses on information systems and information technology. Students will decide on specific technologies that they are most interested in managing: Network and cyber–security (also earn CISCO certification), web and commerce, database and big data, healthcare and enterprise systems (look for our SAP certification coming soon).

The MBA in Accounting program prepares students for managerial positions in various types of organizations. The program builds on core business competencies and functional specialization to impart to its students decision analysis skills and a strategic perspective of business problems. This program is not intended to include sufficient course work in accounting and taxation to qualify students for licensure as certified public accountants. Students intending to pursue licensure may need to supplement the program requirements with other accounting, business, legal studies, and tax courses, taken under advisement.

Computer Science and Cybersecurity

The new BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND CYBERSECURITY program is designed to produce graduates who are fully qualified as computer software and hardware developers, while at the same time, able to serve as information security officers, penetration testers, and network administrators. The program provides a solid foundation of computer science, emphasizing specifically the expertise in computing systems. The BA in Geography is a liberal arts degree that is appropriate for students who want a career that involves qualitative research of communities and cultural phenomena. You'll examine the ways communities interact with their environment and how that shapes public policy and government institutions, and impacts businesses, education, health, and economic development.

Jazz & Commercial Music
This concentration provides a musical environment that helps prepare students for a performing career in today’s diverse world of professional music. It builds knowledge of composition, arranging, improvisation, technology, history, and business.

Sustainability Studies
The BS program is for students interested in careers that take an engineering, technological or scientific approach to sustainability. Students in this program are required to take at least 23 credits of science and math.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Resources is the application of geology and the natural sciences to issues of environmental sustainability, natural resource management, resource development, and conservation. This degree prepares students for careers in environmental geology, environmental science, resource management, environmental law, and environmental regulation.

Health informatics, one of the most high-demand sectors in information technology, is transforming the healthcare industry and improving the quality of patient care. The Master of Science (MS) in Health Informatics at Hofstra University is designed for aspiring and committed clinicians or IT professionals who want to add the value of an advanced expertise in health informatics to their careers. Japanese Studies

The BA major in Japanese provides students with a solid foundation of Japanese language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension.  In addition, through carefully selected foundational and elective courses, students gain an understanding of Japan’s literary and cultural traditions and history.  Students are encouraged to augment their study of Japanese at Hofstra with study abroad.
