The Master of Science (MS) in Medical Physics combines a strong foundation in science and technology with varied opportunities for hands-on clinical experience through Hofstra University’s partnership with the Northwell Health System. You will graduate exceptionally prepared for the next step in your academic or professional pursuits – whether you go on to earn a PhD, become a clinical medical physicist, or develop new technologies. This program can be completed in two years and is accredited by the CAMPEP (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs). Scholarships are available for qualified candidates.

Data Science
The program prepares students for advanced careers in data engineering, quantitative research, machine learning, and data analytics. The curriculum includes the mathematical and algorithmic knowledge and skills used in different aspects of data science such as data science, data mining and visualization, statistical analysis and inference, and machine learning. The program provides a strong foundation in mathematical methods used in data science, including linear algebra, statistical inference, and optimization, as well as a wide range of applied topics in machine learning, data science, and data mining. Biology - Marine Biology

The Bachelor of Science is appropriate for students planning graduate studies in biology and professional pursuits in the fields of biology, medicine or higher education. The BS has an options requirement – areas of specialized learning. Choose from Cell and Molecular Biology; Ecology and Evolution; Marine Biology; Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental and Pre-Veterinary Studies; and Secondary Education.

Geographic Information Systems
The BS in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is better suited for students with a mind for processing data. It offers technical-oriented, professional-grade training in GIS and geospatial technologies, and requires significant math, statistics, and natural science coursework. Unlike the major in geography, the GIS degree requires a minor or a second major in an area outside geography. Some popular choices among our GIS students include civil engineering, biology, journalism, and political science.

The BS in Community Health is closely aligned with its sister program, the BS in Health Science, which is designed for students who are interested in exploring clinical career paths such as dentistry, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, or medicine. The overlap of health courses allows students to switch majors with simple adjustments, giving you greater flexibility to shift your career goals with little or no loss of time or tuition.

There are a wide range of available concentrations to pursue in fields such as cybersecurity, gaming and animation, web and mobile applications, plus flexible choices of technical electives.

Web and Mobile Engineering

The concentration in Web and Mobile Engineering is aimed at educating students in the field of Web and mobile computer applications. This is a continually growing and changing field. Almost all computer applications must provide access on the Web and/or mobile devices. Courses in this concentration offer a hands-on approach to learning Web and mobile programming.
