History
The Department of History offers a wide variety of courses on the United States, Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, from ancient and medieval times to the 21st century. Students acquire skills in critical analysis and communication crucial for professional success, as well as the knowledge they need as citizens. History majors pursue successful careers in many fields including business, education, law, and politics.

The criminology program’s objective is to provide students with sound methodological and analytic skills, leading to critical understanding of criminal behavior and the operation of the criminal justice system. The program will prepare you for further studies, decision-making, and leadership positions in the fields of law, criminal justice administration, policy development, and national security.

Students majoring in criminology will take required classes like:

• Introduction to Criminology
• Sociology of Crime and Delinquency
• Theoretical Perspectives on Crime and Justice
• Statistics in Sociology or Statistics in Psychology
• Research Methods in Sociology

Students will then take courses in two categories: Crime and Justice and Law, Politics, and Society, as well as electives such as Ethics in Policing; Domestic Violence; Mental Illness and Criminal Behavior; Gender, Crime, and Criminal Justice; and Crime Scene Investigation Methods.

Urban Ecology
The BS program is appropriate for students whose interests in urban ecology are centered on the science and involved in restoring and maintaining healthy urban habitats and their associated green spaces.

This field is growing as sustainability becomes increasingly important to society. Urban ecologists study vegetation, water flow, wildlife, and open spaces in cities to monitor the health of these resources and how they respond to pollution, development, and other pressures. We monitor nutrient flow from lawns and industry into oceans; help design buildings and large developments to make them more sustainable and appealing; run nature and interpretive programs ranging from very small to citywide; study the effects of invasive species; and explore the positive impacts that green spaces have on biodiversity and human health.

Computer Engineering

The BACHELOR of SCIENCE in COMPUTER ENGINEERING program is concerned with the design of hardware and software for computing devices and systems. Computer Engineering students take a rigorous set of courses in hardware and software related topics. Graduates with a degree in computer engineering typically secure jobs that involve the design of embedded systems, mobile devices, automotive sensing and control systems and biomedical devices to name a few. Concentration in Networking and Cybersecurity
The concentration in Networking and Cybersecurity is aimed at educating students in the growing field of cybersecurity.  Security of data and computer systems is one of the most important topics in today's online world. Any application or system must have ways to prevent and protect from cyber attacks, to allow secure access and protection of data stored in distributed locations accessible online. Through additional outreach activities, students also learn about the connections between Asia, the growing Asian American communities in the New York metropolitan area, and the University.
