Computer Science and Cybersecurity

The new BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND CYBERSECURITY program is designed to produce graduates who are fully qualified as computer software and hardware developers, while at the same time, able to serve as information security officers, penetration testers, and network administrators. The program provides a solid foundation of computer science, emphasizing specifically the expertise in computing systems. Hands-on experience with real world projects and defense technologies ensure that our graduates will succeed in the technically challenging and rapidly changing field of cybersecurity.

The Master of Science (MS) in Medical Physics combines a strong foundation in science and technology with varied opportunities for hands-on clinical experience through Hofstra University’s partnership with the Northwell Health System. You will graduate exceptionally prepared for the next step in your academic or professional pursuits – whether you go on to earn a PhD, become a clinical medical physicist, or develop new technologies. This program can be completed in two years and is accredited by the CAMPEP (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs). Scholarships are available for qualified candidates.

The criminology program’s objective is to provide students with sound methodological and analytic skills, leading to critical understanding of criminal behavior and the operation of the criminal justice system. The program will prepare you for further studies, decision-making, and leadership positions in the fields of law, criminal justice administration, policy development, and national security.

Students majoring in criminology will take required classes like:

• Introduction to Criminology
• Sociology of Crime and Delinquency
• Theoretical Perspectives on Crime and Justice
• Statistics in Sociology or Statistics in Psychology
• Research Methods in Sociology

Students will then take courses in two categories: Crime and Justice and Law, Politics, and Society, as well as electives such as Ethics in Policing; Domestic Violence; Mental Illness and Criminal Behavior; Gender, Crime, and Criminal Justice; and Crime Scene Investigation Methods.

The Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM) gives practicing engineers the competitive edge necessary to advance to management positions in leading engineering and technology firms nationwide.
