Accounting
This program qualifies students for general accounting careers in business, but does not satisfy in full the educational requirements for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York state

The arrival of the Big Data Era has created a significant demand for people who are well-educated in business analytics. The Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics is well-positioned to deliver this program with many faculty members who are scholars and/or have experience in this area.

The program will prepare students for business analytics careers in industry, government, health care and nonprofit organizations. This program enhances the students’ critical thinking, analytical skills, and practical experience in this field.

Our integrative biology graduate programs recognize that today's biology requires an approach that draws on studies from molecules to ecosystems, and therefore that our students need a broad range of experience and breadth of knowledge. Through course work and seminars, students learn how to integrate information from the various biology subdisciplines (molecular genetics to evolution) and levels (sub-cellular to biospheric) in order to understand and ask fundamental questions about cells, organisms, species, and ecology. Graduates with master's degrees pursue professional degrees in the health sciences, continue graduate work at the doctoral level, and find employment as marine, wildlife, and ecology specialists and educators for governmental and nongovernmental organizations and as lab technicians for hospitals and in industry.

An INTO Hofstra International Year One program in Natural Science will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor’s degree program at Hofstra University. Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of undergraduate study at Hofstra University. This transition from an INTO Hofstra program to a university degree program is called progression.

Applied Physics - Biochemistry

The BS in Applied Physics allows students to combine the BS in Physics with a concentration in biochemistry, computer science, or engineering. The curriculum includes electives in humanities and social science to give the student a general background to supplement training as a specialist.

The Master of Arts in Creative Arts Therapy Counseling program is a 60-credit degree and has been approved by the American Art Therapy Association since 1984.  Graduates of the art therapy program are eligible for licensure in NYS as a Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) and to sit for the Art Therapy Credentials Board Examination (ATCBE).

Our small, intimate class sizes and diverse student body, as well as the didactic and clinical aspects of the program prepare our students for successful careers in art therapy.  The program features new and refined courses in the areas of ethics, diversity, aging and development, career counseling, and experiential learning.

Armed with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, you may go on to an exciting career in federal, state, and local governments; law; business; international organizations; nonprofit associations and organizations; campaign management and polling; journalism; precollegiate education; electoral politics; research and university and college teaching.

With a major in political science you will develop your analytical abilities, critical thinking, writing, and quantitative reasoning skills. These will help you prepare for a dynamic career in any number of fields including government service, nonprofits, business, education, and law.

The MS in Cybersecurity (Technology Concentration) is intended for students who wish to obtain both technical and managerial skills in the area of security and privacy for enterprise data, systems and networks. Graduates of the concentration will be able to be:

• Design and implement software and protocols for building secure computational systems.
• Evaluate security architectures to reduce the risk of cyber-attacks, limit damage from intrusion, and recover rapidly from them.
• Create and use effective tools for security operations, security engineering, and vulnerability management.

Africana Studies
Students can pursue Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies, and learn about the identities, history, geography, language, politics, economics, and cultural experience of the African people, as well as Black peoples in the Americas and Europe. Learn how Africa's natural resources are fueling the economies of the developing world.

The BS in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is better suited for students with a mind for processing data. It offers technical-oriented, professional-grade training in GIS and geospatial technologies, and requires significant math, statistics, and natural science coursework. Unlike the major in geography, the GIS degree requires a minor or a second major in an area outside geography. Some popular choices among our GIS students include civil engineering, biology, journalism, and political science.

Television Production and Studies

The BA in Television Production and Studies focuses on the creative side of the television industry, from scriptwriting and editing to directing and producing. Choose from courses in television aesthetics and criticism, shows and showrunners, sitcom production, sports reporting and production, digital editing, lighting, and single- and multi-camera production.
