As a student at the Frank G. Zarb School of Business, we offer a range of classes that allow you to focus on your individual interests: advertising or marketing, specific industries (fashion or sports, for example), and various tools and methods of communicating with audiences, such as social media, allowing you to find your specialty.

A marketing degree prepares you for the marketing function in a range of industries, from banking and finance to entertainment, sports, fashion, music, and media.

An INTO Hofstra International Year One program in Health Science/Exercise Science will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor’s degree program at Hofstra University. Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of undergraduate study at Hofstra University. Health Science
Have a passion for helping people live longer, better lives? The field of health science gives you a deep understanding of the evolving challenges of modern health care, and provides a strong foundation for advanced  degrees in careers such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary sciences, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies.

The objectives of the program are twofold: (i) to develop highly qualified professionals capable of adapting with ease to the dynamic field of computing; and (ii) to prepare students interested in pursuing doctoral studies in computer science or related fields. The program provides a strong base in the fundamental areas of computer science, such as algorithms, operating systems and programming languages. In addition, the program offers a large number of electives in important areas such as networking, security, web and mobile application development, and parallel and distributed computing. Students interested in applied computer science may select a concentration either in Web Engineering or Networking and Security. Students may also select a focus in their own particular area of interest by choosing elective courses and/or up to two independent study/research courses under the close supervision of a faculty expert. Faculty fields of expertise include computer vision, artificial intelligence, data mining, software engineering, security, cognitive neuroscience, computational algebra, and logic and programming languages.

Japanese Studies

The BA major in Japanese provides students with a solid foundation of Japanese language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension.  In addition, through carefully selected foundational and elective courses, students gain an understanding of Japan’s literary and cultural traditions and history.  Students are encouraged to augment their study of Japanese at Hofstra with study abroad.

Forensic Science
Forensic science is the application of science to investigations pertaining to the legal system. Forensic scientists apply principles and techniques of various sciences to the examination and comparison of biological evidence, trace evidence, impression evidence, drugs, and firearms.

The profession requires critical thinking, communication skills, the application of natural and physical sciences to legal issues, and ethical responsibility. This program provides students with a strong foundation in physical and natural sciences and acquaints them with various relevant aspects of the legal system.

The department’s newest concentration draws on the resources and faculty expertise within the English Department and also reaches out to other areas of the University, including child psychology and literacy studies.

Courses in historical musical topics, with emphasis on bibliography and research techniques, provide a foundation for graduate study leading to careers in musicology, musical criticism, and music librarianship.

Business Operations and Healthcare Analytics
The Master of Science in Business Operations and Healthcare Analytics will provide students with the tools, insight, and experience in data analytics and guide them to apply their skills and experiences within the context of healthcare operations.  The students in this program will learn data collection and analysis to optimize efficiency through transforming healthcare operations, monitoring costs of care, and maximizing patient outcomes.
