Creative Arts Therapy Counseling
The Master of Arts degree (MA) in creative arts therapy counseling, currently approved by the American Art Therapy Association (AATA), is designed to provide students with a critical knowledge base comprised of content areas identified by both the American Art Therapy Association and New York State Education Department. Graduates will be prepared to work effectively in hospitals, agencies, rehabilitation centers, adult facilities, day treatment centers, mental health centers and schools. Graduates work with individuals who have experienced mental and physical illness, trauma, addictions, changes in living, developmental disabilities, autism, and those who seek personal development. This program is the first step that students take toward achieving New York state creative arts therapy licensure.

This creative arts therapy master's degree incorporates counseling strategies in core courses and selected electives. Our electives include expressive therapies (drama, dance, movement, play, poetry, music) as well as courses in other related disciplines such as counseling, marriage and family therapy, and special education.

The Master of Arts (MA) in Forensic Linguistics, the first program of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, will teach you how to use a linguist’s core tools, including phonetics, syntax, semantics and sociolinguistics, to analyze language in legal and other real-world settings. The Master of Science (MS) in Medical Physics combines a strong foundation in science and technology with varied opportunities for hands-on clinical experience through Hofstra University’s partnership with the Northwell Health System. You will graduate exceptionally prepared for the next step in your academic or professional pursuits – whether you go on to earn a PhD, become a clinical medical physicist, or develop new technologies. This program can be completed in two years and is accredited by the CAMPEP (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs). Scholarships are available for qualified candidates.

Television Production and Studies

The BA in Television Production and Studies focuses on the creative side of the television industry, from scriptwriting and editing to directing and producing. The BS requires the completion of one of seven tracks: mathematics, actuarial science, applied mathematics, chemistry, physics, engineering, or computer science.

The BS has an options requirement – areas of specialized learning. Choose from Cell and Molecular Biology; Ecology and Evolution; Marine Biology; Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental and Pre-Veterinary Studies; and Secondary Education.

Music
This degree offers a broad-based program, with fewer major hours and more liberal arts elective hours.

The objectives of the program are twofold: (i) to develop highly qualified professionals capable of adapting with ease to the dynamic field of computing; and (ii) to prepare students interested in pursuing doctoral studies in computer science or related fields. The program provides a strong base in the fundamental areas of computer science, such as algorithms, operating systems and programming languages. In addition, the program offers a large number of electives in important areas such as networking, security, web and mobile application development, and parallel and distributed computing. Students interested in applied computer science may select a concentration either in Web Engineering or Networking and Security. Students may also select a focus in their own particular area of interest by choosing elective courses and/or up to two independent study/research courses under the close supervision of a faculty expert. Faculty fields of expertise include computer vision, artificial intelligence, data mining, software engineering, security, cognitive neuroscience, computational algebra, and logic and programming languages.
