Bioengineering

Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering students concentrate in one of three areas: Biomechanics, Bioelectricity, or Pre-Med. You'll first build a foundation in universal engineering theories, mathematics, and the physical and life sciences, before moving on to courses in your area of interest:

Pre-Medicine

• Chemistry
• Biochemistry
• Genetics

An INTO Hofstra Graduate Pathway program in Information Systems will prepare you to enter your next semester of a master’s degree program at Hofstra University. Information Systems
Offered by the Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics, the Master of Science in Information Systems is designed to meet the demand of professionals who want to assume specialized responsibilities in the field of information technology.

This is a more intensive program, with more required coursework in fine arts and art history than the BA degree. In addition, students must select a specialization from one of the following areas:

• Painting
• Design and New Media and Industrial Design
• Photography
• Sculpture
• Ceramics

This degree is for students who may be interested in a double major in areas such as education, marketing, computer science, or film. Students have the option of a general fine arts degree, or a specialization in design, painting, or sculpture-industrial design.

Learn how to question and analyze the social, legal, political, historical, and economic factors that influence the media industry -- and apply this in-depth knowledge to a variety of career paths or advance study in fields such as law, management, politics, and education.

Choose from courses such as:

• Media and the Law: Examine law and court rulings as they pertain to censorship issues, intellectual property, privacy rights, and social media content
• Celebrity, Culture and Media: Critically analyze stardom and celebrity-making media industries
• Privacy and Public Life in a Media Age: Explore issues of individual privacy, public life and civic engagement, online privacy, the surveillance environment, and more.

Fine Arts

This degree is for students who may be interested in a double major in areas such as education, marketing, computer science, or film. Students have the option of a general fine arts degree, or a specialization in design, painting, or sculpture-industrial design.

Computer Engineering

Computer Engineering students at Hofstra learn to design hardware and software for the computing devices and systems that serve as the foundation for nearly every critical institution in society. Indeed, few degrees are more immediately valuable in today’s workplace. Our graduates move into a variety of well-paying jobs, from software engineering, operating systems development, and the design of hardware systems and complex networks, to creating and managing mobile devices, sensing and control systems, biomedical devices, and more.

Pre-Medical Studies
The Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medical Studies is an interdisciplinary degree for those students who are interested primarily in science. This degree includes all science, mathematics, and statistics courses required for entrance into medical, dental, or veterinary school, as well as more advanced and specialized work in the sciences that is of particular relevance to students planning a professional career in health-related sciences. Incorporation of all of the biology and chemistry pre-requisite courses into the requirements for this interdisciplinary degree enables students to simultaneously pursue other academic interests in addition to the sciences. As a BS degree, this program has reduced general education requirements and no language requirement.

Mathematics - Chemistry

The BS in Mathematics is appropriate for students planning graduate studies in mathematics or professional pursuits in the field of mathematics. The BS requires the completion of one of seven tracks: mathematics, actuarial science, applied mathematics, chemistry, physics, engineering, or computer science.

Biology - Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental/Pre-Veterinary

The Bachelor of Science is appropriate for students planning graduate studies in biology and professional pursuits in the fields of biology, medicine or higher education. The BS has an options requirement – areas of specialized learning. Choose from Cell and Molecular Biology; Ecology and Evolution; Marine Biology; Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental and Pre-Veterinary Studies; and Secondary Education.
