Kinesiology
In our program, you’ll be immersed in the interdisciplinary study of physical activity and its effect on human health, disease prevention and quality of life. You’ll acquire a scientific foundation of chemistry, anatomy, physiology, nutrition and public health, and gain an understanding of the physiological, psychological, biomechanical and motor-behavioral bases of physical activity, exercise and sport. You’ll also be well prepared for professional certifications in fitness and conditioning — such as those from ACSM and NSCA — as well as for graduate study in the field.

The School of Psychological Science offers students a variety of educational avenues that provide the necessary tools for competency in, and appreciation for, psychology as a scientific discipline.

In addition to classes whose contents span the many sub disciplines of psychology, the School of Psychological Science at Oregon State values the intellectual contributions of its students and offers a number of opportunities for research experience.

In our courses, all kinds of texts – from medieval poems to postmodern novels, adapted screenplays to literary criticism itself – appear as windows into the cultures and conditions in which they were produced. English majors develop habits of mind attuned to the reasons why people do what they do and write what they write. Our graduates are engaged, empathetic people pursuing a creative, critical, and useful degree.

Hospitality Management
Earn your bachelor of arts or science in hospitality management in one of the Northwest’s premier tourist destinations: Bend! OSU-Cascades offers the only hospitality management degree program of its kind in Oregon. The multi-disciplinary degree program prepares you for a wide range of hospitality careers within a corporate setting, in a hospitality operations setting, or as an entrepreneur. The hospitality industry requires college graduates who can go directly into management and can hit-the-ground-running on their first day of work. The hospitality management program at OSU-Cascades provides students with the skills and knowledge to become leaders and innovators in the hospitality industry.

Bioengineering
Bioengineering is an interdisciplinary field that applies engineering principles and quantitative methods to the advancement of knowledge at the molecular, cellular, tissue, organ, and system levels, and to the development of new biologicals, materials, devices, and processes.

Oregon State University and the University of Oregon have partnered to offer joint Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Bioengineering, giving students the opportunity to work with faculty advisors at either campus. These new joint degree programs are expected to begin enrolling students starting in the fall of 2021. Oregon State University also offers a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Bioengineering.

Biological Data Sciences
A degree in BDS provides a wealth of career and graduate school opportunities. Advances, such as next generation sequencing, drones, satellite imagery, and crowd sourcing, have transformed the life sciences by enabling data collection to occur at speeds and scales previously unimaginable. This paradigm shift in how researchers answer biological questions has resulted in an ever-increasing need for scientists with appropriate expertise in both biological and quantitative thinking

The tourism and outdoor recreation industries are among the largest in the world and continue to grow in Oregon and throughout the nation. As a TRAL graduate, you will be a leader, educator and entrepreneur in our most important natural spaces. You will be on the cutting edge of this exciting, ever-changing industry and go on to educate others about the natural world, lead life-changing adventure opportunities, create brand new businesses based on the idea of sharing the outdoors with others and more.

Bioengineering
The Bioengineering undergraduate program (initiated in 1996 as biological engineering) provides a solid background in biology (anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology), chemistry, physics and math, in addition to the engineering sciences. Upper-level course work in bioengineering includes analysis and design of processes involving suspension and immobilized microbial cultures and the recovery of therapeutic products from bioreactors, as well as selection courses in mammalian cell culture and tissue engineering, biomedical materials engineering and cellular engineering. All students complete coursework in drug and medical device regulation as well as a capstone-design experience. Bioengineering graduates are prepared to contribute to the rapidly growing bioscience-based industries, and are able to formulate and solve problems relevant to the design of devices and systems to improve human health.

Botany
Students majoring in Botany study the fundamental biology of plants and fungi from molecular and cellular to the global ecosystem level. The curriculum includes core classes in plant structure, systematics, ecology, and physiology, along with courses in biochemistry, cell biology, and genetics. Students also learn how to apply their knowledge to current issues and problems of in food production, conservation, and healthy ecosystems.
