The department offers four different paths in the major and a minor:

General Economics Option - Organizations want employees who can think, communicate orally, write, and solve problems, and who are comfortable with quantitative analysis.

Managerial Economics Option - The Managerial Economics Option is an interdisciplinary program which allows students to use business classes toward the requirements of the economics degree.

Law, Economics and Policy Option - The Law, Economics and Policy Option is an interdisciplinary program drawing from political science and philosophy courses as well as economics.

Mathematical Economics Option - As the economics profession becomes increasingly mathematical, economics majors who plan to go to graduate school need a strong math background.

If you are dedicated to creating better ways to feed or fuel the world now and in the future, studying crop science can ensure that you have a hand in the development of new, sustainable methods of agriculture for Oregon and the world. You'll gain practical experience in quality breeding methods, seed technology, entomology, weed management techniques and more.

The Department of Crop and Soil Sciences partners with growers across the state and around the U.S. to identify and solve challenges to crops from invasive pests to water use technology. Our goals are to increase the safe, sustainable production of food crops for people and animals, as well as energy crops, designed to generate power for our future energy needs.

International Year One General will prepare you to enter the second year of one of OSU's many undergraduate degree programs. Upon successful completion of International Year One and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next term of undergraduate study at Oregon State University. Accountancy
Running a business without a skillful accountant is like driving a car without a gas gauge. If someone isn’t keeping tabs on things, the company might just run out of gas.
Business leaders look to accountants to explain how their organization is spending money, where revenue is coming from and which tax deductions can be legally claimed. Accountants also keep the back-end of the business rolling without hitches or delays — ensuring the numbers remain above board at all times.

As an accountant, you’ll spend your days tracking daily financial transactions, while also keeping a strategic eye on the horizon. You hold the purse strings — paying employees, tracking cash flow and managing your organization’s most important assets. And when it comes time to scale up and seek outside funding, you’ll be the first person leadership asks for advice.

An English degree is about more than the book. English majors learn to see complex problems in their full richness and don’t take the first answer, or the simplest answer, as truth. In our courses, all kinds of texts – from medieval poems to postmodern novels, adapted screenplays to literary criticism itself – appear as windows into the cultures and conditions in which they were produced. English majors develop habits of mind attuned to the reasons why people do what they do and write what they write. Our graduates are engaged, empathetic people pursuing a creative, critical, and useful degree.

Our goal is to help stimulate intellectual and aesthetic inquiry, develop our students' creative and technical skills, and graduate engaged, culturally aware citizens. Students here have the opportunity to choose from several options: painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography and art history.

Construction Engineering Management
Our construction engineering management (CEM) undergraduate program prepares students with the tools they need to become construction engineers and managers in all areas of the construction industry. The program emphasizes practical applications as well as basic principles. Students are given many hands-on experiences in the laboratory and are involved in numerous field trips to supplement classroom activities. CEM graduates find employment in all phases of construction: commercial and industrial building, heavy/highway, structures, utilities, and civil projects. They are employed by general constructors, subcontractors, suppliers, developers, homebuilders, consultants, and governmental agencies. They work as project engineers, project managers, field and office engineers, estimators, as well as in other positions.

As an architectural engineer, you’ll spend your days finding new ways to improve quality of life through the built environment. Whether designing the acoustics for a new performing arts center or engineering a coastal building that can withstand a Category 5 hurricane, you’ll have a direct hand in creating a safer, more sustainable, more beautiful world for generations to enjoy.

Environmental Engineering
Students can earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering. The undergraduate curriculum is founded on a sound background in basic sciences (chemistry, physics, biology) and mathematics (calculus, differential equations), and strengthened with engineering science fundamentals (engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer). Upper division coursework in environmental engineering includes analysis and design of water and wastewater treatment systems, hazardous substance management and regulations, air pollution control technologies, and fate and transport of chemicals in the environment. All students participate in a capstone-design experience meant to foster interaction and communication between different engineering disciplines while applying environmental engineering principles to a real-world problem.

Zoology
Zoology is an interdisciplinary biological sciences degree that focuses on all aspects of the biology of animals – from genes to ecosystems. In particular, the zoology coursework covers major areas of the life sciences including genetics, physiology, ecology, evolution and conservation biology. Through comprehensive content, critical thinking skills, professional development training and the opportunity for hands-on, experiential learning, you’ll be able to apply a wealth of knowledge to real-life situations once you enter the job market.s

The Environmental Sciences Graduate Program provides curricula leading to M.A. M.S., Professional Science Master's (PSM) and Ph.D. degrees in environmental science. The curricula integrates thinking across disciplines, especially life, physical, and social sciences. Environmental science explores natural processes on earth and their alteration by human activity.

Oregon State University has exceptional strength in many of the disciplines, including science, agriculture, forestry, engineering, public health, liberal arts, social science, and oceanography and atmospheric science. Strength in these disciplines allows the ES graduate program to provide high-quality interdisciplinary education for environmental scientists and continuing postgraduate educational opportunities to scientists who are already active in the field.

Business Information Systems
The Business Information Systems curriculum will teach you to harness technology to help organizations achieve a competitive advantage in today's rapidly changing environment. You will gain a firm foundation in business administration and learn to architect, manage, develop and deploy information systems. Depending on your skills and interests you might become a business process analyst, IT project manager, data modeler, systems analyst, software quality tester, developer or database administrator, or you can choose from other technology-related business careers.
