International Year One General will prepare you to enter the second year of one of OSU's many undergraduate degree programs. Upon successful completion of International Year One and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next term of undergraduate study at Oregon State University. Economics
The department offers four different paths in the major and a minor:

• General Economics Option - Organizations want employees who can think, communicate orally, write, and solve problems, and who are comfortable with quantitative analysis.
• Managerial Economics Option - The Managerial Economics Option is an interdisciplinary program which allows students to use business classes toward the requirements of the economics degree.
• Law, Economics and Policy Option - The Law, Economics and Policy Option is an interdisciplinary program drawing from political science and philosophy courses as well as economics.
• Mathematical Economics Option - As the economics profession becomes increasingly mathematical, economics majors who plan to go to graduate school need a strong math background.

Students obtain a solid grounding in management of systems, personnel and quality. The integrative focus of the program also provides excellent preparation for graduate-level studies in law, urban and regional planning, public services administration, and health care administration. Management is the process of planning, organizing, leading and controlling all that encompasses human, material and financial resources in an organizational environment. A management degree means that you have learned the concepts of getting things done through others within organizations.

American Studies
What does it mean to be American? And where does American-ness stem from? Who qualifies as “We, the People,” and does it matter? What is the American Dream? Who might it leave out? Why?

American studies students confront these complex questions, exploring the enduring political ideologies, moments of cultural awakening and diverse perspectives that make America what it is. It’s all up to interpretation and that’s the fun of it!

As an expert in American identity, you will spend your days examining the interplay of disciplines such as history, literature, political science and sociology, adding your insights to the work of scholars past. What amazing places it will take you is anyone’s guess.

Bioengineering
Bioengineering is an interdisciplinary field that applies engineering principles and quantitative methods to the advancement of knowledge at the molecular, cellular, tissue, organ, and system levels, and to the development of new biologicals, materials, devices, and processes.

Oregon State University and the University of Oregon have partnered to offer joint Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Bioengineering, giving students the opportunity to work with faculty advisors at either campus. These new joint degree programs are expected to begin enrolling students starting in the fall of 2021. Oregon State University also offers a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Bioengineering.

Computer science is the study of algorithms and problem solving. These problems apply to every scientific, engineering, and mathematical field, making computer scientists relevant in every professional field today. Environmental Economics and Policy
With a degree in Environmental Economics and Policy you will be an expert at identifying the role that humans play in environmental quality, as well as in developing the solutions. Our approach is to combine data with rigorous theory.  With this degree, you will have a set of skills in theory, quantitative methods, and communication that are highly sought by employers in government, non-profits, and private industry.  Or, an Environmental Economics and Policy degree provides an excellent foundation on which to apply graduate school.  In short, this degree (offered both on campus and online) is a springboard to a variety of rewarding careers!

Public Health
We offer the most comprehensive range of accredited public health graduate degree program in Oregon and are gaining momentum and enthusiasm as the state’s first accredited college of public health. Our public health program is built on the foundation of environmental health sciences, biostatistics, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, and health management and policy.
