At Suffolk, you can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Biology, depending on your area of focus. You’ll begin with a well-rounded assortment of courses in both the lab and classroom focusing on evolution, genetics, ecology, bioethics, and physiology. If you have a specific professional interest, you might choose one of our three concentration options.

Concentration in Biotechnology
This concentration focuses on molecular and microbiology, with a special emphasis on hands-on laboratory opportunities between your sophomore and junior year. You’ll be well-prepared for a career in research or medicine.

Politics, Philosophy & Economics
Suffolk University's Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE) program is the first of its kind in the Boston area. An interdisciplinary major that draws from three academic departments, PPE will give you a foundation in policy, ethics, and economics. You'll develop the comprehensive understanding of complex social and political challenges you'll need to help solve them.

Public Relations
What's it take to succeed in PR? Image is almost everything, but there's a lot you'll need to learn. Suffolk University's public relations major will ground you in the business—and the art—of crafting attention-getting, thought-provoking campaigns that make a difference.

You’ll begin by learning the foundations of public relations, including its history, theory, trends, and practices. You’ll take courses in professional writing, digital and social media, web design, and event planning and promotion. All of this leads to advanced courses in planning public relations campaigns for corporate or nonprofit class clients.

The Suffolk MSBA program gives you insight into how data preparation is vital to implementing business analytics—the foundation for making analytics-driven decisions to solve business problems and create opportunities for a wide range of industries. Our curriculum is industry-designed, as we’ve done the research to ensure our courses are ahead of the curve.

Statistical Analytical Software (SAS), Excel, and Systems Applications Products (SAP) coursework helps prepare you for additional professional certifications. And the Suffolk MSBA program is STEM-designated, qualifying international students for an additional two years of OPT work in the United States.

Learn to build statistical and optimization models that distill essential insights from raw data sets, master the fundamentals of machine learning using Python, and harness the power of data to project forecasts as well as drive data-backed business decisions.

Finance
Develop an understanding of topics such as financial analysis, forecasting, and capital budgeting, and how to apply these trends to analysis of data in finance.

FinTech
Examine how machine learning applies to the financial industry and how emerging technology is disrupting the financial landscape.

Healthcare Management
Learn to analyze and interpret data in the healthcare field, and discuss how decisions about healthcare have global impacts.

Marketing

Suffolk's Theatre Department is student-centered. Sociology
Sociology is a social science that studies our behavior as social beings. It covers everything from the analysis of short contacts between anonymous individuals to the study of global social processes. Often, sociologists are driven to understand and improve the lives of others.

With a physics major, you can study the universe from the largest galaxies to the smallest particles. Physics incorporates other sciences, including astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, and engineering. With this versatile degree, your job search will have forward momentum.

Global Business
Students can combine a major in Global Business with one functional area, such as accounting, business economics, big data and business analytics, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, management, information systems, or wealth management.

Whichever option you choose, you'll learn a foreign language, travel the globe, and explore internship opportunities. With so many double major combinations and study abroad options, you can tailor your degree to meet your career goals.

Chemistry
You’ll follow a course of study endorsed by the American Chemical Society (ACS), which is highly respected in the field. You may also join Suffolk's award-winning ACS student chapter. Students involved in this co-curricular activity host speakers and enjoy participating in community service projects, for example volunteering at the nearby Museum of Science or the Boston Children’s Museum. Additionally, opportunities may be available to attend ACS regional and national meetings to learn about current research from experts in the field and even present your own research.
