Advertising
The skills you need to succeed in the fast-paced, competitive world of advertising. The creativity to dream up buzz-worthy campaigns. You'll hone both as a Suffolk University advertising major.

You’ll learn advertising industry basics, including how to create ads and plan campaigns that appeal to industry brands and nonprofits' target markets. You’ll build ads from the ground-up, writing copy and designing visual elements. Plus, you'll study the fundamentals of media planning and buying as they apply to television, radio, print, online, and social media advertising.

A whole world of experiential learning awaits just outside our classrooms, too. At Suffolk, it's easy to commute to internships at nearby advertising agencies, TV stations, and other top media employers in Boston.

The Corporate Accounting & Finance major combines finance principles with accounting practices to prepare you for a career in corporate finance. This major provides students with a strong background in financial accounting in addition to financial analysis and decision making that is required for positions such as CFO or financial manager.

Students will develop an understanding of capital structure, financial planning and analysis, and project valuation which will help them determine where and how to invest corporate funds.

History
To be a history major, you need to be curious. You’ll become an investigator into the minds, motivations, and movements that shaped our world, all while studying in one of the most historic cities on earth. At Suffolk, you’ll sharpen your analytical and critical-thinking skills to interpret the past, contextualize the present, and frame the future.

Sociology is a social science that studies our behavior as social beings. It covers everything from the analysis of short contacts between anonymous individuals to the study of global social processes. Often, sociologists are driven to understand and improve the lives of others.

Concentration in Crime and Justice
Criminal justice will provide you with a rigorous study of criminal justice systems and community responses to crime. Our interactive approach to learning focuses on fostering an understanding of crime and the principles of social scientific research. Throughout your studies, you will examine how illegal behavior is defined, with special attention to how social inequalities of race, class, gender, sexuality, and age shape what is seen as crime and what is seen as justice. The intersections of criminal justice and social justice are emphasized in our curriculum.

Global Cultural Studies
The major in Global Cultural Studies will prepare you for work and citizenship in an interconnected world where boundaries between nations and cultures are disappearing. This new interdisciplinary major will foster understanding and skills to enhance your ability to collaborate in international contexts.

Through this humanities-based program, you will receive a practical and theoretical education that is essential for understanding cross-cultural encounters and engaging the complexities of the world.

The Global Cultural Studies Major offers a variety of courses across departments including Communication and Journalism, Economics, English, Government, History, World Languages and Cultural Studies, and more.
