Suffolk University's program is tailored to your goals. You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking and then courses in writing, online journalism, and media law. Next, you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in journalism.

Concentration in Print/web
If you choose the print/web journalism concentration, you’ll gain universal skills that can be applied in print and online, including reporting, feature writing, criticism, and copy editing. Our students regularly intern at The Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Boston Magazine, and Metro newspapers, among other print outlets, as well as for a wide variety of online news and sports publications.

At Suffolk, you can take courses on strategic marketing, public relations, intercultural communication, global branding, gender communication, advertising, campaign management, and much more.

You'll learn to combine technology and theory to create effective messaging strategies for targeted audiences. Classes like the Management Senior Capstone Project Course let you test your business knowledge. You’ll spend a semester working through business challenges for an actual client. After weeks of intensive research, group meetings, and client interviews, you'll present your business recommendations to senior-level executives.

You’ll graduate an innovative, creative, and effective problem solver, who’s ready to manage many different types of organizations. And you’ll have the confidence to lead diverse teams that encompass different cultural, ethical, political, and behavioral perspectives.

As a Business Economics major, you’ll refine the critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and communication skills that employers want, allowing you to enter many different fields, such as banking, insurance, management, and government.

The Finance major focuses on the evolving demands of the global financial environment. You'll be introduced to the latest educational technology, including Compustat, CRSP, StockTrak, Bloomberg, and Morningstar. Our trading room provides a simulated environment where you can analyze the latest stock quotes and compare currency exchange rates, just as professional traders do.
