Finance
In finance, we'll teach you how to address an age-old problem: How do you make more money and grow your business? With your BS, we'll train you to add value to all sorts of businesses, including multinational banks, investment firms, and other companies in every industry.

But before you can build that wealth, you need the educational foundation required to fuel your success. That's why our program begins with an exploration of financial planning, investing, valuation, risk management and more. After your core courses, we'll help you choose a track that best fits your career goals. Not to mention, our award-winning, student-managed investment fund, the UAB Green and Gold Fund, will give you real-world experience. Best of all, everything's available both on campus and online.

Students joining our Integrated Master Program (IMP) will benefit from a degree-seeking I-20 while still receiving the additional support provided by INTO UAB, from the day they apply through their first semester on campus. Pre-arrival questions get answered. Travel fears get addressed. Help with everything from tutoring to career guidance—at the ready for IMP students.

The Master of Science in Cyber Security (formerly known as Computer Forensics and Security Management) (MSSec) is an interdisciplinary program that prepares graduates for a professional career in the field of cyber security by developing in them the necessary skills crucial for success. The program also provides current practitioners the opportunity to obtain advanced-level training to facilitate career advancement. The program includes a set of core, required courses and the opportunity to select from a default option or two tracks of specialization.

A theatre degree can give you performing arts experience as an actor, designer, stage manager, director, scriptwriter, costume and set designer, and much more. This degree could lead to a career in Hollywood, New York, or just about anywhere.

But before you see your name in lights, we first have to hone your talents and teach you about topics such as scenery, lighting, makeup, and even theatre history. But don't worry, we'll want to get you on the stage often during your education, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to put your new skills to use. In fact, with our state-of-the-art theatres and scene design shop, you'll have opportunities to participate in or create professional-level productions.

For health care to be effective, patients must receive care in a quality and safe environment. Providers rely on people like you to steer them toward a quality-driven, efficiency-minded, and high-reliability environment. You can learn the skills you need as an administrator, physician, nurse, patient safety officer, or quality manager.

In fact, we specifically designed our program specifically so you'll get critical applied instruction that you can integrate with the daily tasks of your profession. Your coursework will focus on leadership skills, data system design, patient safety, policy, and more. You'll also take an elective to round out your curriculum. Your choices here will run the gamut from Six Sigma seminars to lectures on health insurance and cost-effectiveness analysis. Best of all, every class is available online so you can fit it into your already busy schedule. In the end, you should have a better understanding of how to improve patience care and safety outcomes.

African American Studies
The BA in African American Studies is an interdisciplinary program examining African life and culture, both on the African continent and the diaspora. As a student, you will learn about the African and African American experience from different perspectives including English, history, political science, sociology, and public health.

• Understand the experiences, traditions, and history of African descended people.

Students who major in physics go on to successful careers in a variety of fields that impact both big research problems and our technologically-based global economy. The UAB Department of Physics offers a rigorous but flexible undergraduate program that emphasizes both depth and breadth in order to meet the demands of tomorrow’s technology-based research and education global scenes.

In order for our students to develop the skills that employers desire and that Grand Challenge interdisciplinary research problems demand, the UAB Department of Physics offers five different undergraduate tracks designed to help students achieve their career goals not only in traditional physics, but also in closely-related engineering, STEM, teaching, computational, and medical fields.

Anthropology—the study of humankind, past and present—has the widest scope of all the social sciences. With an understanding of other people and their cultures, you'll be prepared for a career in a variety of fields, including international business, law, teaching, forensic science, language interpretation, environmental conservation, or even museum curation.

To enhance your degree, we offer the opportunity to complete an honors program, study abroad, or design your own personalized program. You'll have access to a student research room and an impressive collection of artifacts. Your professors will teach you about topics such as cultural anthropology and archaeology—and they can provide valuable experience by partnering with you to make a difference through research on peace studies and human rights

Our Master of Arts (MA) degree in Communication Management is specifically targeted at professionals in communication-related fields and students seeking an advanced degree in communication. As a student in our program, you’ll explore practical and theoretical applications in a variety of challenging real-world communication contexts. Our classes are offered in the evenings and on weekends to make them easier to fit into your already-busy schedule.

Information Systems
Information Systems are the backbone of modern organizations. With today’s speed of innovation, organizations need help keeping up with emerging technologies and understanding how different applications can be leveraged to accomplish enterprise objectives. The amount of information generated each day can be overwhelming. Organizations need the best technological solutions to make sense of the data, and individuals who know how to develop them are in high demand, unlike some other computer related fields. Information Systems requires a blend of technical expertise and business savvy. The program provides a solid foundation in business information systems and business knowledge with a well-rounded business curriculum as well as specialized courses in information systems that deliver a broad understanding of how to leverage technology to achieve business goals.

This program is ideally suited for those who enjoy working with technology and with people. Graduates will be uniquely qualified to serve as liaisons between technical teams and management, and to facilitate collaborative approaches to solve business problems.

The Master of Arts degree in Art History offered jointly with the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, is the only art history graduate program in the state. The M.A. degree in Art History prepares students for further academic study at the doctoral level or for professional careers in teaching, museums, galleries, and other arts-related fields. Students may enroll on either campus and must take at least 6 hours of course work on the other campus.

The M.A. program offers a wide range of art history courses and graduate seminars. Each student must take ARH 680 (Methods and Approaches to the History of Art). The M.A. program offers specialized study in Medieval Art, Early Modern Art, Eighteenth-Century/Nineteenth-Century Art, Twentieth-Century/Contemporary Art, South Asian Art, and East Asian Art. The small size of the program affords graduate students the opportunity to work closely with individual faculty members on both campuses in seminars and directed research projects. The M.A. in Art History provides students with a thorough grounding in art history, critical thinking, and research methods.
