Clinical labs need people like you to run tests and analyze data in order to give patients accurate diagnoses. We can prepare you for a career working in a hospital lab, industry, research lab, or elsewhere.

To earn the MS in Clinical Laboratory Science, you'll complete a rigorous curriculum that includes a set of rich, diverse learning experiences under faculty that are committed to your success. The comprehensive program includes courses such as Body Fluids, Laboratory Techniques, Hematology, Infectious Diseases, and Clinical Microbiology, among others. To give you a valuable, hands-on experience, you'll have lab offerings with most of your courses. In addition, you'll take professional-development classes that'll help you adapt with this evolving field. Finally, you'll have opportunities to work at Birmingham-area clinics, giving you crucial, real-world experience on your resume by the time you graduate.

As a musical theatre student, you'll learn about acting, voice, singing, music, movement, and dance. Whether you want to be an actor, singer, dancer, or another performance artist, we will show you the ins-and-outs of working in theatre in New York, Los Angeles, or elsewhere.

Your entry into musical theatre begins with an Introduction to Theatre or an Introduction to Dance, followed by coursework designed to further develop your dance skills. You'll begin to apply these skills through musical theatre performances, acting, theatre technology, and other experiences, such as our NYC Showcase course. Finally, you'll participate in at least four main stage productions per year, plus studio productions. In the end, you will have had both hands-on and classroom experience in many different areas of musical theatre.

Biomedical Engineering
Biomedical Engineering (BME) is the application of engineering principles and problem-solving techniques to biology and medicine. BME knowledge and skills play important roles in modern healthcare — from diagnosis and analysis to treatment and recovery, and from the proliferation of implantable medical devices (such as pacemakers and artificial hips) to more futuristic technologies (such as stem cell engineering and 3D printing of biological organs).

Biomedical engineers differ from other engineering disciplines that have an influence on human health. How? Biomedical engineers use and apply an intimate knowledge of modern biological principles in their engineering design process. Subdisciplines in BME include design and development of active and passive medical devices, orthopedic implants, medical imaging, biomedical signal processing, tissue and stem cell engineering, and clinical engineering, just to name a few.

As a mechanical engineer, the devices you design are critical to our modern economy and future innovation. A master’s degree can help you learn advanced engineering methods and give you research opportunities.

We've developed a research-intensive curriculum, with unique hands-on experiences and mentorship from our faculty. As you earn your degree, you'll have the option of choosing a path with or without a thesis. With a thesis, you’ll take more mathematics courses, which can be beneficial if you want to pursue a doctoral degree. If you'd rather do a research or design project, you can do so with an emphasis in research/design or technology/engineering management. No matter what you choose, you will have an opportunity to explore a number of research areas.

With threats continuing to mount, digital forensics experts are in high demand at companies that need cybersecurity. Careers are available in computer science, criminal justice, information systems, information technology, or law.

But catching cyber criminals means you have to think like them—and then outsmart them. So we're going to teach you the programming knowledge and tools you need to do just that. We're also going to teach you about legal evidence-gathering, investigation processes, and more. Best of all, because our criminal justice program is the only one in Alabama that requires an internship, you'll have real-world experience on your resume when it's time to find a job.

Because managers are the ones who skillfully coordinate and control the activities of the organization to achieve business goals.  At the core of good management is the need to know how to attract, motivate and reward the best and brightest people.  Management is also about effective alignment.  Organizations are complicated systems that rely on the effective coordination of people, technology and organizational processes to be successful.  Managers drive this alignment through their skills of strategic thinking, strong communications and employee motivation to create business value.

Anthropology
Anthropology—the study of humankind, past and present—has the widest scope of all the social sciences. With an understanding of other people and their cultures, you'll be prepared for a career in a variety of fields, including international business, law, teaching, forensic science, language interpretation, environmental conservation, or even museum curation.

To enhance your degree, we offer the opportunity to complete an honors program, study abroad, or design your own personalized program. You'll have access to a student research room and an impressive collection of artifacts. Your professors will teach you about topics such as cultural anthropology and archaeology—and they can provide valuable experience by partnering with you to make a difference through research on peace studies and human rights

Medical Sociology
Medical sociology looks at how a person's culture, feelings, and other social factors play a role in their health-care choices. A medical sociology degree can help prepare you for a career in health care, research, government data analysis, or other industries.

To begin your education, you'll take courses in medical sociology, medical social theory, and research methods/statistics. You'll then move on to electives on special topics that interest you, such as Death and Dying, Biology and Society, and Minority Aging. We know, some of these topics can get a little heavy—but they're important. And when you pair them with a pre-professional medical program, you'll have insights to social behaviors that can be invaluable to you throughout your career.

A theatre degree can give you performing arts experience as an actor, designer, stage manager, director, scriptwriter, costume and set designer, and much more. This degree could lead to a career in Hollywood, New York, or just about anywhere.

But before you see your name in lights, we first have to hone your talents and teach you about topics such as scenery, lighting, makeup, and even theatre history. But don't worry, we'll want to get you on the stage often during your education, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to put your new skills to use. In fact, with our state-of-the-art theatres and scene design shop, you'll have opportunities to participate in or create professional-level productions.
