Accounting
The objective of the baccalaureate degree program in Accountancy is to provide students with accounting and business knowledge that will serve as a basis for careers in industry, government, non-profit organizations and public accountancy. The baccalaureate program also prepares students for entry into the Master of Accountancy (M.Acc.) professional degree program. The State of Florida requires completion of 120 semester hours to sit for the CPA examination and 150 semester hours are required for licensure.

Geology
The Bachelor of Science degree program provides the student with a hands-on foundation in the fundamentals of the geosciences. As a result of faculty interests and geographic locations, several geologic sub-disciplines are emphasized, including applied geophysics, coastal geology, geochemistry, geomorphology, geoscience education, hydrogeology, paleobiology, petrology, and volcanology. However, the wide variety of courses and electives offered by the Geology, Environmental Sciences, and Geography programs within the School of Geosciences provides students with programs of study that can be tailored to fit individual needs while maintaining a sound background in all general aspects of geology.

Graduate study at the University of South Florida Department of Communication emphasizes critical, qualitative, and quantitative research, a comprehensive focus that is unusual among graduate programs in the field of Communication.  The department embraces innovative humanistic and social scientific approaches to inquiry and engagement in health, media, organizational and relational communication, with emphases on culture, performance, and social justice.

Public Health
USF offers the first Bachelor’s in Public Health housed in its accredited College of Public Health in Florida. The Bachelor of Science in Public Health provides the student-centered courses required for entry-level public health jobs found in government agencies, health corporations, community non-profit organizations and healthcare facilities.

Management
The undergraduate major in Management prepares students to manage and lead all aspects of organizations. It also prepares students for graduate study in business and other fields. Mastery of course content enables students to inspire themselves, others, teams, and organizations to coordinate efforts to provide effective outcomes. Content covered includes ethics and virtue, organizational behavior, human resources, domestic and international cultural differences, and negotiating skills. A capstone course integrates the learning objectives of the major in a study of a real company where students demonstrate that they can now apply effectively what they have learned.

Chemistry
The Chemistry B.A. gives students exposure to analytical, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry while providing the flexibility to take additional elective courses. Students interested in professional, law, or graduate school or those who anticipate working in careers related to secondary education or business will find this degree attractive. The B.A. student whose goals include graduate study should supplement this curriculum by addition and/or substitution of a selection of advanced courses from the B.S. program. The Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry provides opportunities for curricula individually tailored to meet many career objectives.

Geology
The Bachelor of Arts program is designed primarily for the liberal arts student who has an interest in careers in Geoscience education or environmental policy and law. A student who elects the B.A. program and decides to pursue the geology profession or attend graduate school will need at least field geology in his/her program.

Gerontology is the study of the process of human aging in all its aspects: physical, psychological, and social. The demographic imperative of an increasingly older age distribution will require graduates who have acquired an integrated base of knowledge and skills to deal with the complex challenges that will confront individuals, societies, and nations in the coming decades. The M.A. in Gerontology program emphasizes educating students who, in their professional careers, will work to sustain or improve the quality of life of older people. The ultimate goal of this program is to educate the next generation of practitioners and program personnel in the field of aging and gerontology and to prepare interested students for doctoral programs in aging and related fields.

The Master of Science in Cybersecurity is an interdisciplinary major that utilizes talent across the Colleges of Business, Engineering, Arts & Sciences, and Behavioral and Community Sciences. The major prepares students for leadership, managerial and domain-specific roles in Cybersecurity and for employment in managerial and operational positions that require quick analytical thinking, decision-making under uncertainty regarding critical resources, and domain-specific technical skills for managing secure operations. Specifically, based on the design of the concentrations and the core of this major, the major is also expected to prepare students for

• Intelligence positions that require innovative, analytical, decision-making, and technical skills for providing cybersecurity intelligence,
• Information assurance positions that require secure management of information and data transferred, used, stored, and processed in information systems,
• Law enforcement positions that are required to deal more and more with cyber-crimes, and
• Cybersecurity positions that require deep technical skills in the security domain.

Because this is a graduate-level major, to ensure that students possess the foundational knowledge for academic success, students admitted to this major are most likely to be successful if they have academic or work experience in the areas of C/C++ programming, computer networks, operating-system design, algorithms, data structures, and computer organization. An undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, MIS, or IT is recommended for admission. Note: For the Information Assurance Concentration it is recommended that students have a background in accounting information systems, database management, and systems analysis and design.
