Through its curriculum and production program, students have the opportunity to prepare for a professional career in the theatre or to continue their studies at the graduate level. Our exclusively undergraduate program boasts intensive studies in the disciplines of performance, design and theatre arts as well as a close working relationship with our nationally and internationally recognized faculty.

This program has been certified as a Global Pathway. Global Pathway programs have significant global content and align with the goals of USF’s Quality Enhancement Plan, the Global Citizens Project. Students in Global Pathway programs are well positioned to earn the Global Citizen Award and become eligible to apply for a study abroad scholarship offered by the Global Citizens Project.

The Business Analytics and Information Systems (BAIS) major provides the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the rapidly changing world of business analytics and information systems. Potential career paths include data analyst, business intelligence analyst, business analyst, consulting, systems analyst, database administrator, project manager or a myriad of technology management roles in business.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers an MA degree in Statistics. The major provides the experience and knowledge to understand and appreciate prior accomplishments in the discipline and develops the skills necessary for a meaningful contribution to the intellectual advancement and applications of the discipline. It prepares its graduates to pursue long-term careers in their field by providing solid and cutting-edge knowledge.

The M.A. in Women’s and Gender Studies is designed to serve the needs of a variety of students. This program prepares students both for continued academic study and for positions outside the academy, especially in social-justice and public-service organizations. Graduates are prepared for Ph.D. and counseling programs, law schools, and public and private sector careers. The thesis option is recommended for students who intend eventually to pursue a doctoral or other advanced degree. Either the portfolio option or the internship option is recommended for students who seek the M.A. as a terminal degree.

An INTO USF Graduate Pathway program in Mass Communications will prepare you to enter your next semester of a master’s degree program at University of South Florida. After successfully completing the Pathway program, you are guaranteed to enter your next semester of study. This transition to university from an INTO program is called progression.

Mass Communications-M.A.
The Master of Arts in Mass Communications degree requires 39 credit hours, including at least 30 hours of structured coursework and successful completion of a final thesis or applied research project. The Master of Arts in Mass Communications is earned through one of two concentrations: Media Studies or Strategic Communication Management.

The media studies concentration uses a broad approach to study mass media. This is ideal for students who wish to explore how media shapes the world and, in turn, how the world shapes the media.

The strategic communication track focuses on communication as a management function in an organization. This perspective integrates public relations, advertising, and marketing communication into a single focus.

The M.A. in Art History provides students with training in art history, theory, and methods to prepare them for careers in art collections, education, and cultural institutions, as well as for further graduate study at the Ph.D. level. Courses are offered in art and architecture from antiquity to the present. We see art history as an integral part of social and cultural history in a global context, and our classes are interdisciplinary in scope. The major is unique in featuring small, intensive seminar-style courses. Students receive individual attention from an active, award-winning research faculty, who expose students to the most recent methodological and theoretical approaches in the field. Coursework can be supplemented by international travel and study-abroad programs sponsored by the School of Art and Art History. The Contemporary Art Museum, Graphicstudio Institute for Research in Art and the Kennedy Family Visiting Artist/Scholar program are all valuable resources contributing to course content, study and possible internship opportunities in the program.

The M.H.A. program prepares students for public and privates sector leadership positions in health services and related organizations, such as hospitals, health systems, physician group practices, and health insurance plans.  Students develop knowledge and skills in contemporary management methods and policy decision making, integrating a population health management approach.  The curriculum develops skills in basic business disciplines with application to health services, a clinical and community perspective and professional skills. The M.H.A. program serves early to mid-career professionals, including those seeking transition into and advancement within the health care industry, as well as recent graduates of undergraduate programs.

This degree prepares our majors to go on to graduate school, medical school, law school, or choose to enter the workforce in a wide variety of public, private, governmental, and non-profit agencies. Faculty in the department collaborate with an extensive group of disciplines, providing students across campus with a site for interdisciplinary learning and teaching. Given the intensity and rigor of study, including analytical reading and critical writing, our majors make themselves extremely attractive to potential employers

Management
The undergraduate major in Management prepares students to manage and lead all aspects of organizations. It also prepares students for graduate study in business and other fields. Mastery of course content enables students to inspire themselves, others, teams, and organizations to coordinate efforts to provide effective outcomes. Content covered includes ethics and virtue, organizational behavior, human resources, domestic and international cultural differences, and negotiating skills. A capstone course integrates the learning objectives of the major in a study of a real company where students demonstrate that they can now apply effectively what they have learned.

The discipline of History embraces a diverse world of ideas, peoples, and events. Our faculty seek to inform and to question, to provoke and to challenge our students to a higher level of understanding of the past. History at the University of South Florida (USF) offers the student an opportunity to explore civilizations from around the globe and from the ancient through contemporary eras. Students are encouraged to move beyond traditional memorization of material to a critical level of thinking, analysis, and synthesis. Accomplished History majors are attractive to all kinds of employers in any number of fields, as well as to graduate and professional schools. USF History alumni may be found in such diverse professions as law, medicine, business, government, foreign-service, politics, and education.
