The Bachelor of Science Degree in Long Term Care Administration provides students with a basic education in gerontology and allows graduates of the program to sit for the licensure examination to become Nursing Home Administrators. It is especially appropriate for students who intend to begin working immediately following completion of the degree program.

The Masters in Arts in Educational Studies is designed for those who desire to increase their competence in working with children of elementary age in diverse educational and leadership roles. Graduates bring high-level skills in planning and leadership to their professional roles in the communities they serve. The M.A. is not designed for those seeking initial teacher certification.

The Information Technology program focuses on programming, databases, networking, human-computer interaction, web systems, and cybersecurity to meet the technology requirements of business, government, healthcare, education, and other organizations. Microbiology
This degree specializes in the study of bacteria and other microbes, primarily at the cell and molecular level, and focuses on disease causing microbes. The Microbiology core and elective requirements include specialized microbiology courses necessary to qualify for certification by the National Registry of Microbiologists, American Society of Microbiology, and employment in microbiology and related fields. Many microbiology majors plan to apply to medical or dental school, while others plan careers as professional microbiologists in industry and government. Others become teachers or aspire to graduate training in microbiology.

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Intelligence Studies is an applied graduate major designed to train a “next generation” of information and intelligence professionals for the private and public sectors. The Cyber Intelligence Concentration is designed to develop intelligence professionals who specialize the cyber domain USF’s Intelligence Studies major is built around an innovative STEM-based model for professional analytic education. The curriculum focuses primarily on developing analytic competencies, and subsequently allows students to focus on specialized subject-matter areas. The principal aim is to train problem-solvers who understand strategic concepts and analytic methodologies and can apply that knowledge to advance an organization’s interests and objectives.

Electrical Engineering-M.S.
The faculty of the Electrical Engineering Department at USF takes great pride in providing a high quality education to our more than 400 graduate students and invites you to consider joining us in advancing the frontiers of knowledge. Our student body is diverse, our research spans experimental and theoretical studies of many fundamental areas of electrical engineering, and we enjoy strong partnerships throughout industry and with prominent national laboratories and federal agencies. Most importantly our graduate students benefit from the dedicated, personal guidance of our faculty.

The faculty of electrical engineering hails from some of the finest institutions in the country, and includes NSF CAREER Award winners, Fellows of the IEEE and AAAS, Distinguished University Professors, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. Many serve in national leadership roles in technical societies such as the IEEE, have industry experience to complement their academic backgrounds, and lend their expertise to federal agencies such as The National Science Foundation and The National Institutes of Health. Some are very entrepreneurial and have founded spin-off companies based on their research. This diversity of experience enriches the learning and experiences of our students.

Industrial engineering (IE) is a field of study intended for individuals who are interested in formulating mathematical, statistical, and computer simulation models of complex systems in manufacturing, logistics, information, healthcare, transportation, financial, utilities, entertainment, and service. IEs connect big data sets and models to make engineering decisions for improving system performance and developing public policies. Unlike traditional disciplines in engineering, the scope of the industrial engineering field is very broad.

The Interdisciplinary Natural Sciences degree serves the academic and career goals of undergraduate students who seek a broad education in the Natural Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geology). Students select a sequence of upper-level courses based on career goals, choosing three of the five natural science areas. Students interested in secondary education, public health, and other fields may choose this degree.

The M.A. in Art History provides students with training in art history, theory, and methods to prepare them for careers in art collections, education, and cultural institutions, as well as for further graduate study at the Ph.D. level. Courses are offered in art and architecture from antiquity to the present. We see art history as an integral part of social and cultural history in a global context, and our classes are interdisciplinary in scope. The major is unique in featuring small, intensive seminar-style courses. Students receive individual attention from an active, award-winning research faculty, who expose students to the most recent methodological and theoretical approaches in the field. Coursework can be supplemented by international travel and study-abroad programs sponsored by the School of Art and Art History. The Contemporary Art Museum, Graphicstudio Institute for Research in Art and the Kennedy Family Visiting Artist/Scholar program are all valuable resources contributing to course content, study and possible internship opportunities in the program.
