Government Management
The Government track is ideal for pre-service and in-service professionals interested in pursuing a public service career in the local, state, and federal government. This track is also suitable for individuals who are interested in pursuing political careers. Our Government Management track graduates are employed as municipal and assistant municipal managers, chiefs of staff, school district business leaders, elected officials, budget analysts, and directors, as well as executive and program directors and coordinators in various public sector agencies.

The Nonprofit Management track is geared toward public managers in the nonprofit sector with previous management experience or with advanced professional degrees. Students pursuing this MPA track can focus on three areas: managerial skills enhancement (for those in or preparing for a career as a manager or administrator of a non-profit organization); leadership development (designed for those interested in planning for and implementing social change); and social entrepreneurship (ideal for those in the private sector who have a particular interest in the social impact of for-profit business activities). Our Nonprofit Management track graduates are employed with varied sized-organizations in the areas of education, parks and recreation, community services, healthcare, immigration, etc.

A bachelor of arts in women’s and gender studies gives you the critical thinking skills and experiences to identify oppressive systems and to create forms of social justice. Take a unique constellation of classes that use categories of analysis, including gender, race, ability, sexuality, class, among others, to build a specialized portfolio of experiential learning in and with communities and independent research and policy projects. We are currently the only University in Manhattan to offer a major in Peace and Justice Studies. The GMAT/GRE is not required for applicants with a minimum of three years of professional work experience in human resources.

MS Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) International
Want to go out and see the world? The growth of the English language worldwide is creating opportunities for teachers around the globe. The MS in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) International is a 30-credit program that prepares teachers of English who want to work in international settings or with adult learners in the US. This non-certification program doesn’t even require an undergraduate degree in education.

With a BS in Biochemistry, you’ll be able to decode the “language of life,” a skill that can lead to a career in the pharmaceutical, chemical, or food industries. Your degree will demonstrate that you are prepared to advance in any number of career directions, from consumer products to medicine.

Go Beyond The Classroom

• We offer a unique opportunity to combine classroom theory with practical experience by connecting students with the ability to conduct research alongside faculty, in some cases as early as sophomore year.
• Students can expect to conduct work on ongoing research projects including biochemical studies of parasitic diseases with a view to developing new antimicrobial and therapeutic agents to combat disease by opportunistic infections of AIDS patients, sexually transmitted diseases, malaria, and East African sleeping sickness.
• Before graduation, students have the opportunity to present their research at national and international conferences and publish their findings in leading peer-reviewed journals.
