The Department offers both Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts degrees in Mathematics, Applied Mathematical Sciences, Mathematics-Statistics, and Mathematics-Actuarial Science, and Mathematics-Actuarial Science-Finance, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics-Physics. The Bachelor of Science program provides in-depth training in Mathematics as preparation for graduate study or for participation in scientific and engineering teams in government, industry, or research laboratories. The Bachelor of Arts degree is designed to provide training in contemporary mathematics without the depth and concentrated specialization required for the Bachelor of Science program. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting at the University of Connecticut is an intensive, conservatory-style program designed to prepare students for direct entry into performance careers in all areas of professional theatre, including television and film. Students are also thoroughly prepared to continue acting studies at the graduate, Master of Fine Arts level. Combining a four-year sequence of acting classes with extensive voice and movement training and a well-rounded course of studies in the art of theatre, the BFA Acting Program also offers outstanding performance opportunities through the Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT), the performance wing of the Department of Dramatic Arts. At the CRT, students work with professional actors and directors on the way to earning membership points in Actor's Equity, the American union for professional stage actors and stage managers.

The School of Engineering is excited to launch a new major in Multidisciplinary Engineering (MDE). As the name implies, this major draws from multiple different engineering disciplines and provides students with a broad background to work in numerous engineering fields.

The undergraduate major in Urban and Community Studies is an interdisciplinary program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a focus on educating citizens on the multiple dimensions of urban and community life and preparing students for careers in public and community service as well as graduate study in social work, public administration, law, planning, public health, or other related areas.

The major has three parts. First, students receive a broad education in the study of cities, suburbs, neighborhoods and communities through core courses in three fields drawn from Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, Public Policy, Sociology, and Urban and Community Studies. Second, students acquire a solid foundation in analytical techniques such as statistical analysis, survey research, geographic information systems, qualitative methods, or archival research. Finally, students take additional electives in order to broaden their academic training or to develop a deeper specialization in selected areas.

The Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences major is a pre-professional program within the liberal arts and sciences curriculum. It provides a broad overview of normal speech, language and hearing development. In addition a variety of speech, language, and hearing disorders are introduced. This major permits the student to apply for graduate studies in one of two specialty areas: audiology or speech-language pathology.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program in Art & Design is designed to provide an enriched educational environment that develops and nurtures the full range of capabilities necessary for a career in the visual arts. Skills addressed include: a mastery of requisite technical skills, the use of technology across the curriculum, experience in critical and creative problem solving, visual literacy, knowledge of historical modes of expression in the visual arts, and mastery of written modes of expression.

After Foundations courses, students declare a concentration in which to focus their advanced studies. Once a concentration is declared students follow that concentration's prescribed Plan of Study. Students are able and encouraged to take advanced courses across all the studio concentrations. Specific concentration requirements can be found on each concentration's page.

Geoscience emerged from the historic core discipline of geology, which focused on the rocks, fossils, and mineral resources of the solid earth, and of the past.  Within the last half-century, extraordinary technological advances have shifted the spatial scale to the whole of the planet, and the time scale to include the present Anthropocene Epoch and future we must prepare for.

This program produces graduates with a broad perspective in both software and hardware topics pertinent to computing systems. It provides the foundation and specialized knowledge necessary to analyze, design and evaluate system software, utility programs and software-hardware architectures. The program is supported by study in mathematics, science, and engineering. This allows students to design hardware and software solutions for a wide variety of application domains. Students gain hands-on experience in the laboratory courses accompanying classroom work, and develop design skills in course work beginning in the first two years. Design experience continues in junior and senior years in the areas of software engineering and in applications areas of the student’s choosing, culminating in the one semester Senior Design Project course

The Bachelor of Arts in Music with no emphasis is ideal for students looking for comprehensive study in music and is well suited to students looking to pursue a dual degree. While still requiring intensive study in music history, theory and aural skills, applied lessons, and ensemble work, this degree offering allows for a more flexible schedule. The Bachelor of Arts in Music thoroughly prepares students wishing to pursue graduate degrees in music, as well.

The Bachelor of Arts with a major in music has undergone a significant curricular revision that allows students to pursue their desire to study music and at the same time pursue other academic interests, including majors or minors in other departments and programs within the University.

While pursuing their A.A.S. or B.S. degree, Animal Science students work with animals and learn the basic sciences of genetics, physiology, nutrition, health and behavior. Animal Scientists work with domestic animals and their products of meat, milk, eggs and fiber, as well as the companion animals, such as horses, cats and dogs. Graduates are prepared for national certification as Professional Animal Scientists.

In addition to teaching, faculty members in the Department of Animal Science conduct research and provide public service to the citizens and industry of Connecticut. Animal Science research programs are vibrant and exciting with support from state, federal and industrial sources. Quality of instruction and counseling is considered among the best in the nation. Most Departmental classes are small, providing an excellent faculty to student ratio.
