At various times in recent history, religion has been disparaged as oppressive (Marx), criticized as an illusion (Freud), or dismissed as irrelevant (the post-Holocaust "God is Dead" movement). Nonetheless, religious sources and expression continue to provide the central texts, symbols, and paths of transformation for individuals and societies throughout the world.

The Information Technology and Systems major at Marist bridges the gap between computing technology and the business world. By developing skills both areas, you will be well-prepared for the development and implementation of information systems and technologies in a variety of organizational settings.

This Fashion Business Concentration within the Fashion Merchandising program is designed to enhance the educational experience for students and allows you to hone in on your interests in the industry. By focusing more deeply on the business principles and practices of the industry, you’ll have a competitive edge when you enter the field after graduation.

The B.A. in Italian provides the foundational skills for spoken and written proficiency as well as essential knowledge of Italian culture through the study of a broad range of topics such as Italian literature,  history, and contemporary ideas. The minor provides students with a solid base for the many professions linked with international endeavors and helps to prepare students to work in Italian and Italian American communities and institutions here and abroad.

The Public Relations concentration of the Communication major is geared toward our students who are interested in careers in Public Relations and related fields, resulting in career paths from Social Media Specialists to Corporate Communication Directors. Our program combines essential learnings that introduce and hone skills in courses like Campaign Management, Public Relations Writing Tools, Advanced Strategic Storytelling, Research & Analytics, among others. By studying both the principles and practice of the industry, you’ll have a competitive edge when you enter the field after graduation.

The Journalism concentration within the Communication major is designed to stir and enrich your curiosity, resourcefulness, and concern about the issues of the day. You will study the history, literature, and law of your field, and you will graduate with years of hands-on journalism experience to ensure your success upon entering the industry.

Marist’s Sports Communication concentration within the Communication major goes beyond scores and statistics. You will read and analyze sports in new ways, critically examining the role of sports in society and considering such areas as gender, race, and public policy in the context of sports.
