You’ll study different social systems—family units, gangs, religious cults, medical systems, and more—and how they’re impacted by race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, and social class.

The Life Sciences - Biomedical Engineering, B.S. helps you learn to leverage core biological principles to solve a vast spectrum of medical problems.

With a focus on biomedical engineering, your curriculum covers a range from calculus-based mathematics and anatomy to physiology and biomedical physics. The ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering, B.S. program grounds you in the design and development of mechanical systems, structures, thermo-fluid systems, aerospace systems, advanced transportation, and energy systems through state-of-art technology and experiences.

The aerospace concentration provides a focus on aircraft and space vehicle design. Your courses emphasize material capabilities, production, and propulsion and are engineered to help you meet the changing priorities of the aerospace industry.

• Through the Energy Management, M.S., you’ll master the latest technologies used in green buildings, power systems, and facility security. You’ll learn about the wind energy, advanced batteries, and smart grid systems that are transforming the way we generate and deliver electricity, and conduct state-of-the-art research in our Energy and Green Technologies Lab. You’ll work side-by-side faculty who are experts in facilities management, risk assessment, and alternative energy systems.
• To fit this program into your busy schedule, you can attend classes at either our Long Island campus or fully-online. Weekend and evening courses are also offered.

Focused on culturally competent school counseling and social justice, the School Counseling, M.S. helps you become a compassionate, effective advocate for the academic, social, and emotional success of pre-K–12 students.

You’ll gain a broad foundation on prevalent topics in school counseling today, including leadership, group counseling, working with special needs students, college counseling, and school violence prevention. You’ll also acquire the critical experience you need through a practicum and internships under the mentorship of a tenured school counselor in a pre-K–12 school setting.

We also offer a Bilingual Extension, which can be completed simultaneously with your school counseling degree. The extension includes a minimum of six additional credits, as well as bilingual practicum experience to prepare you to work specifically with bilingual/ELL students and their families. NYSED certification will require documented proficiency in the target language by independently passing the New York State Bilingual Assessment (BEA).

What You’ll Learn

• With Architectural Technology, B.S.A.T., your curriculum will encompass architectural design, building technology, environmental systems, and project management using advanced software and tools. You can also opt to further tailor your degree by pursuing a concentration in Construction Management.
• During your first two years, you will study the foundations of architectural history and building construction while developing expertise in design analysis, drafting, and 3-D design skills. During your third and fourth years, you will work intensively toward the completion of a capstone project incorporating all aspects of a building’s design and architectural technology.
• You’ll gain the critical experience you’ll need to stand out to employers through national and international design workshops, collaborative projects within the community, onsite construction observation, and summer study abroad in canonical cities around the world.

What You’ll Learn

• In our Chemistry, B.S. program, you’ll participate in a hands-on curriculum utilizing technology and modern approaches to solve chemical problems.
• After a core curriculum in humanities and research principles and practices, you’ll take coursework in progressive levels of general chemistry, organic chemistry, quantitative and instrumental analysis, physical chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and mathematics, as well as a selection of electives.
• You’ll work in our state-of-the-art research laboratories, conducting research side-by-side with highly-skilled faculty in areas such as synthetic and medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics.
