You can tailor your exploration of the African and African American experience by choosing from among 60 courses in different disciplines, including anthropology, art history, English, gender studies, history, music, political science, religion, and sociology.

A Bachelor of Science in Geology allows students to study the composition and structure of the earth, earth history (environments and life), natural hazards (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanism, etc), mineral and energy extraction, surface and groundwater, ocean processes, and more.

Geologists study the earth – its history, its composition and processes, as well as potential hazards such as earthquakes, volcanos, landslides and climate change.

With a geology degree, you can find a job in energy, mining, environmental consulting, government research and regulation. And, you’ll likely find yourself spending part of your workday outdoors – in swamps, mountains, forests, desert plains and out at sea.

The law studies program is designed for the student who wishes to pursue a career as a paralegal or legal assistant.

Economics is the study of the allocation of resources. Using mathematical and statistical models, economists consider how resources such as labor, land, money, and technology are distributed.  Economics majors gain a broad understanding of the field of economics as well as skills in statistics, mathematics, organization, research methodology, and verbal and written communication. The Bachelor of Science in economics is designed for students desiring a more technical and mathematical approach to economics in preparation for a Ph.D. in economics.

The B.S. in communication sciences and disorders is a preprofessional degree that prepares students to pursue a graduate degree in communication sciences and disorders. The graduate degree is required for work in the field of communication sciences and disorders (speech- language pathology and audiology).

Students are introduced to anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing mechanisms; phonology; human development; disorders in fluency, voice, articulation, expressive and receptive language and learning and the programs and methods used to treat these disorders.

The M.S. in engineering science is offered in a number of emphasis areas: aeroacoustics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computational hydroscience, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, electromagnetics, environmental engineering, geology, geological engineering, hydrology, mechanical engineering, material science and engineering, and telecommunications.

An M.S. in engineering science with emphasis in telecommunications prepares a student with advanced technical knowledge and communication skills for pursuing a career in industry, engineering research and development, public service, or for doctoral work.

Sociology is the systematic study of human social life. The B.A. in sociology provides students with the basic tools of sociological analysis including social research methods (both quantitative and qualitative) and theory. The curriculum in sociology equips students to more effectively negotiate the diverse society in which we live by addressing social inequalities, culture, community development, social institutions, and social change.

The Master of Taxation & Data Analytics program offers specialization in both taxation and data analytics. The study of linguistics, often referred to as the "science of language," provides students with an understanding of the sound systems, words, and sentence structures of language, both individually and comparatively.
