Engineering physics is a cross-functional major that bridges the gap between applied science and practical engineering. It's both experimental and theoretical as it emphasizes research and development while also focusing on the design and analysis of complex problems.

At Pacific, the engineering physics curriculum combines depth in mathematics and physics beyond other engineering majors, which prepares students for success in all technical fields. Working alongside faculty advisors, students personalize their study plans to fit their academic and career goals.

All engineering physics students complete a senior design project, which provides an opportunity to apply engineering fundamentals and design methods to the solution of a real-world problem. Example projects include:

• A solar-powered boat
• A three-foot-tall tour-guide robot
• A magnetic levitation system
• An autonomous algae detection drone
• A remote power wind station.

Pacific's broad-based professional art program is intended to provide you with options in the art ?eld and provides strong foundational and interdisciplinary education so you can develop a professional-level portfolio.

Our program helps you develop esthetic knowledge, perceptual awareness and creative problem solving skills.

With a BFA degree from Pacific, you will develop the conceptual, perceptual, technical and professional skills necessary to be a practicing artist who thinks critically and historically, communicates effectively, and acts responsibly in our global society.

That's pretty broad, but so is a physics degree. Physics majors of course most often go into scientific or technical fields (like optics, superconductivity, nanotechnology, new energy methods, etc.), but it is a very flexible degree. Physics majors go on to careers in biology, law, financial firms, teaching, and other areas — basically anywhere there are difficult problems to solve.

When you earn a chemistry degree at Pacific, you will build skills to give you confidence and a competitive edge as you enter the workplace or pursue graduate degrees. Unlike many other universities, Pacific offers undergraduates the opportunity to conduct hands-on research. You can work alongside faculty whose labs are contributing to treatments for diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's.

The Social Sciences major is an interdisciplinary program that provides training in History, Political Science, Sociology, Economics and Geography. Social Sciences students learn both qualitative and quantitative methodologies in their exploration of human society. Graduates may pursue careers such as business administration, government, law, law enforcement, human resources, and public policy. The major is also designed for students interested in high school teaching and coaching. The major is aligned with the Social Science subject matter exam on the California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET). Prospective teachers must earn a passing score on the the Social Sciences CSET exam to be certified as teachers.

This major appeals to students with a broad range of interests. Students completing the Social Sciences major in the College of the Pacific may also concurrently complete the Single Subject Credential through the Benerd School of Education. The major requires a minimum of 45 semester units, detailed below. The Bachelor of Arts in Music is designed to help you connect music to the liberal arts and sciences. It provides a breadth of study that can serve as excellent preparation for graduate study in music. Its adaptability can also serve students with professional flexibility via a broad choice of electives to design a curriculum for a unique degree path or career. The music portion of this degree is quite similar to the Bachelor of Music requirements in the first year, allowing you for exploration of these options or electives while still progressing toward graduation. An independent capstone project allows you to further a particular musical interest or to combine musical and non-musical research.

The Master of Science in Engineering Science (MSES) program is designed to strengthen students' technical, analytical, and professional breadth and depth. All students receiving an MSES degree will complete a set of core courses that covers the broader subjects of research and analysis. Students are allowed admission to the MSES program after completing their bachelor's degree. Traditional MSES students may qualify for a graduate assistantship, which provides tuition and a living stipend.

The field of Civil Engineering has long been known for its breadth and ability to adapt to the new technological needs of society, while the modern responsibility of the field is to manage the natural and built environment.The University of the Pacific prepares students for careers with public agencies or private industry and firms involved in planning, design, research and development, or regulation.

The mission of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology is to prepare reflective speech-language pathologists and audiologists for lifelong success by providing an excellent student-centered experiential learning environment. Education in mathematics assists students in developing, to their fullest potential, their mathematical reasoning, communication and problem solving skills. Students who choose to major in mathematics are provided opportunities to develop strong problem solving skills that use quantitative methods and appropriate technology. They understand the strengths, limitations and wide applicability of mathematical modeling in a variety of disciplines. Students develop an appreciation for the discipline and esthetics of mathematics, effectiveness in problem solving, and an appropriate understanding of theory.
