The world of bioengineering, also known as biomedical engineering, has expanded immensely and continues to grow at a rapid pace, creating new opportunities for engineers who have knowledge of biological sciences, chemistry and physical systems.

Pacific is one of the first universities in the country to offer a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering degree. Students in the program explore biomechanical, bioelectrical, biotransport and biomaterial topics. Within the bioengineering program there is a specialized pathway that supports pre-health and pre-medical students as they complete the requirements for admission to professional programs.

As a bioengineer, you can impact the quality of life of patients. Career options are wide-ranging and include medical research, design of medical instruments, biorobotics and even intellectual property law.

Students will select a career path that focuses on a study plan to meet their specific interests and career goals. There are three suggested "career paths." These include the bioelectrical, biomechanical and biomedical career paths.

The new Master of Science in Computer Science degree program is built on a 96-year foundation of engineering and computer science at University of the Pacific. The one to two-year program, taught at the iconic ivy-covered campus in Stockton, California, teaches students advanced techniques and best practices of professional research and establishes the intellectual foundations for achieving excellence in the field of computer science. Graduates of the degree program will be prepared to create new technologies and enhance existing systems with a curriculum that dives into machine learning, data science, virtual reality, and more. The goal of the health, exercise and sport sciences program is to examine how movement-based physical activities, exercise and sport contribute to the quality of human life. We do this from a wide range of perspectives including biology, chemistry, psychology, sociology, business, education and philosophy to ensure that you are able to conceptualize and analyze health and human movement in a holistic manner.

The Music Performance major offers you an opportunity to study the fundamental principles of your chosen instrument through a broad range of pedagogical approaches that culminate in the holistic performance of a broad range of literature. Our faculty are professional musicians and educators experienced in all facets of performance. Students have the opportunity to perform in master classes, solo recitals and in a wide range of ensembles including band, orchestra, jazz, choir, opera, contemporary and chamber music.

Whether pursuing further study in graduate school or directly entering the world of music, you will feel well prepared for a music career of choice.

The study of philosophy is at the core of a liberal arts education. The ideal of a liberal arts education is not simply to prepare you for a specific career but to prepare you for a meaningful personal life and for intelligent participation in your workplace and communities.

The philosophy major exposes you to some of the greatest minds in human history. You are able to discuss and develop ideas with professors and peers, as well as build the reading, writing and critical thinking skills that are essential to a human being.

The Music Education degree coursework is built on an academically challenging, performance-based core curriculum allowing you to obtain a degree and California teaching credential within 4 years. You will develop teaching skills with a hands-on approach to music learning in a variety of diverse music education settings. Through technique classes, conducting, integrated fieldwork and other tools, you can expand your musicianship, confidence and perspective.

That's pretty broad, but so is a physics degree. Physics majors of course most often go into scientific or technical fields (like optics, superconductivity, nanotechnology, new energy methods, etc.), but it is a very flexible degree. Physics majors go on to careers in biology, law, financial firms, teaching, and other areas — basically anywhere there are difficult problems to solve.
