The Music Education degree coursework is built on an academically challenging, performance-based core curriculum allowing you to obtain a degree and California teaching credential within 4 years. You will develop teaching skills with a hands-on approach to music learning in a variety of diverse music education settings. Through technique classes, conducting, integrated fieldwork and other tools, you can expand your musicianship, confidence and perspective.

That's pretty broad, but so is a physics degree. Physics majors of course most often go into scientific or technical fields (like optics, superconductivity, nanotechnology, new energy methods, etc.), but it is a very flexible degree. Physics majors go on to careers in biology, law, financial firms, teaching, and other areas — basically anywhere there are difficult problems to solve.

Pacific's broad-based professional art program is intended to provide you with options in the art ?eld and provides strong foundational and interdisciplinary education so you can develop a professional-level portfolio.

Our program helps you develop esthetic knowledge, perceptual awareness and creative problem solving skills.

With a BFA degree from Pacific, you will develop the conceptual, perceptual, technical and professional skills necessary to be a practicing artist who thinks critically and historically, communicates effectively, and acts responsibly in our global society.

The chemistry program offers a variety of exciting and future-oriented research topics, from organic synthesis, biochemistry, theoretical chemistry to physical chemistry and spectroscopy. The new Master of Science in Computer Science degree program is built on a 96-year foundation of engineering and computer science at University of the Pacific. The one to two-year program, taught at the iconic ivy-covered campus in Stockton, California, teaches students advanced techniques and best practices of professional research and establishes the intellectual foundations for achieving excellence in the field of computer science. Graduates of the degree program will be prepared to create new technologies and enhance existing systems with a curriculum that dives into machine learning, data science, virtual reality, and more. Computer science majors are part of a constantly evolving field that has virtually unlimited growth. From programming technology for major companies to creating video games that are played by millions, computer scientists build and maintain complex technological systems used throughout society.

Pacific’s computer science program offers three concentrations, which define a focused set of upper-division elective courses:

• Graphics and simulation
• Networking and computer security
• Software development.

All three concentrations are built upon a foundation of math, science and engineering that prepares students to be successful and adaptable as new technologies emerge.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music is designed to help you connect music to the liberal arts and sciences. It provides a breadth of study that can serve as excellent preparation for graduate study in music. Its adaptability can also serve students with professional flexibility via a broad choice of electives to design a curriculum for a unique degree path or career. The music portion of this degree is quite similar to the Bachelor of Music requirements in the first year, allowing you for exploration of these options or electives while still progressing toward graduation. An independent capstone project allows you to further a particular musical interest or to combine musical and non-musical research.

Education in mathematics assists students in developing, to their fullest potential, their mathematical reasoning, communication and problem solving skills. Students who choose to major in mathematics are provided opportunities to develop strong problem solving skills that use quantitative methods and appropriate technology. They understand the strengths, limitations and wide applicability of mathematical modeling in a variety of disciplines. Students develop an appreciation for the discipline and esthetics of mathematics, effectiveness in problem solving, and an appropriate understanding of theory.
