This interdisciplinary program provides language skills, cultural information and an understanding of the fundamental business and economic concepts essential for those in management and marketing positions in firms that operate in the global economy. Core courses build your foundation in language and culture, as well as basic economic and business concepts, while electives offer you the opportunity to develop a greater depth of knowledge. A dual-language option, for those already proficient in a foreign language, further enhances employment prospects. Our robust study-abroad program provides opportunities to work or intern in multinational or international firms abroad. The program’s required capstone internship lets you apply the knowledge you’ve learned in your classes to a work setting.

The program instills the ability to speak and write clearly, present logical arguments, imagine diverse possibilities, defend a position and appreciate alternative points of view — skills important to your employability, job security, advancement and ultimate satisfaction in life.

Our program provides a foundation in the principles of geology and its related sciences with four laboratories, a seismograph and field experiences. A newer track on environmental earth sciences integrates a set of cross-disciplinary environmental science experiences from biological sciences, chemistry, meteorology and physics.

Oswego is ideally located for field studies of Lake Ontario, carbonate and clastic sedimentary rocks of the Lower Paleozoic age, Precambrian rocks of the Adirondacks, Pleistocene glacial features and the pollution of rivers and ground waters. Field trips may include southeastern Pennsylvania, the Chesapeake Bay, Ithaca, Whitaker State Park, and the Catskill Mountains.

You also can perform research with professors around the country, or learn firsthand about field-based research and much more in our Geology Field Program. Build your resume through internships and co-op opportunities, and complete an independent research project under the direction of a faculty adviser. Our public relations program incorporates public opinion research, persuasive writing, graphics, working with the media and ethical responsibility, while examining public relations strategies and techniques through case study.

Our faculty members provide practitioner and theorist perspectives, while the program teaches students how to create and implement strategic public relations programs and offer everyday counsel to management. We emphasize writing, critical thinking and interpersonal skills while strongly recommending internships.

You can join our active chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, which coordinates networking events, speakers and hands-on projects to help Oswego students gain connections and experience. Take advantage of a wide selection of on-campus and community involvement and internship opportunities.

Unique in New York state, this demanding interdisciplinary major encompasses both disciplines and how they interrelate, synthesizing two different perspectives of human understanding. The program culminates in a senior seminar in which you can integrate your perspectives on both areas of study and present your insights.

Join the Philosophy Club, and participate in activities ranging from informal conversations to panel discussions, guest lectures and trips to conferences. Take advantage of an internship or study-abroad opportunity related to your career goals. Excel and you can work closely with faculty members in an independent project or special-topic seminar.

The Public Accounting MBA combines a comprehensive business curriculum with required accounting courses in tax, theory, audit and government accounting. The program prepares students for high-level careers in accounting and finance.

Offered by the departments of mathematics and economics, the program's course requirements and electives divide equally between economic theory and mathematics, and include computer science coursework. Your degree prepares you for the growing importance of analyzing and applying statistics and data.

Oswego students have interned at major banks and investment institutions, and worked as teaching assistants and peer tutors. You can participate in national and regional competitions such as the College Fed Challenge, which encourages students to learn more about the U.S. macro-economy and the Federal Reserve System.

You can choose to study and investigate a number of specialization areas including cellular and molecular, organismal and systematic, genetic and developmental, or environmental and population biology. After introductory core courses, students and professors work together to design a program of additional courses to fit your professional career interests. Careful selection of electives, research courses, projects and internships can prepare you for particular careers, graduate studies and/or training at professional schools (medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine).

We also offer an honors program in the major for exceptional students.

With their ability to think critically, communicate effectively and solve complex problems with creativity and independent judgment, biology majors make great employees in any field. This major continues to grow in importance as HR professionals are recognized as an integral part of the overall corporate governance team. Oswego's program aligns with Society for Human Resource Management guidelines to make graduates particularly current and marketable.

Oswego hosts a very active Society for Human Resource Management club that offers workshops to boost your professional preparation, invites speakers, provides networking opportunities and regularly excels in national case competitions.
