You'll learn about the creation and production of media, the interrelated nature of media industries and the skills necessary to write, produce and distribute media messages. In addition to campus radio (WNYO) and TV organizations (WTOP), you can seek an internship or co-op opportunity and gain valuable experience, Oswego students have interned at major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, MTV, ESPN), regional radio (including on-campus National Public Radio affiliate WRVO) and television stations, state and federal agencies and not-for-profit civic and cultural groups. Our Hollywood POV program takes you to the West Coast media capital to learn about, and connect with alumni working in, major entertainment and news operations. You can also help organize the annual Dr. Lewis B. O'Donnell Media Summit, which brings prominent names in the industry to campus.

Our Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited program prepares students with the listening, problem-solving, diagnosis, treatment planning and case consultation skills needed for a successful future in the field. The program consists of 60 credits, which allows you to create relationships with area leaders for future opportunities, plus see the skills, theories and ethics utilized in the practice.

You can choose to study and investigate a number of specialization areas including cellular and molecular, organismal and systematic, genetic and developmental, or environmental and population biology. After introductory core courses, students and professors work together to design a program of additional courses to fit your professional career interests. Careful selection of electives, research courses, projects and internships can prepare you for particular careers, graduate studies and/or training at professional schools (medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine).

Active student organizations provide on-campus connections while a successful network of graduates can help you find internships during college as well as opportunities after graduation. We also offer an honors program in the major for exceptional students.

Majors discover new knowledge to better understand themselves, the world and their place in it, whether working in science or using your knowledge to make informed decisions that impact society.

The demand for the many fields in human services and technology where a psychology degree can prove beneficial continues to increase. Even as an undergraduate, you’ll have opportunities to collaborate closely with faculty members on research projects in many areas of psychology — from applied, clinical, cognitive and counseling to neuroscience, quantitative research methods and more.

Work with faculty on many research opportunities in the field. Get involved in service-learning experiences and serve as a research assistant or teaching assistant. Join the Psychology Club, which sponsors trips and speaker series. Gain valuable experience as a volunteer in the Peer Advisement and Career Awareness Center. Excel and you may be eligible for membership in Psi Chi, the international psychology honor society.

Numerous laboratories include a large computer facility that enables you to examine how people interface with technology. Our internationally renowned Center for Neurobehavioral Effects of Environmental Toxins, investigating the effects of exposure to environmental pollutants on cognitive and behavioral development, offers opportunities for talented and highly motivated undergraduates to participate in ongoing research projects.

Requirements allow substantial freedom for students both in designing individual programs within economics and in balancing the programs with subjects in other disciplines. Choose from a wide variety of economics courses, including relatively unique offerings such as American economic history, the economics of gender and baseball economics. Excel and you may qualify for our honors program, which includes a course in econometrics and an advanced independent study.

Take advantage of internships: Oswego students have interned at major banks and investment institutions, and worked as teaching assistants and peer tutors. Participate in national and regional competitions such as the College Fed Challenge, which encourages students to learn more about the U.S. macro economy and the Federal Reserve System. Our Enactus student organization designs educational projects to help developing countries better understand free-enterprise principles. Conduct and present your own research in the senior capstone seminar.

Study in the five high-demand concentration areas of embedded systems, robotics, biomedical instrumentation, wireless communications and modern energy systems. Our ECE program prepares you for successful careers in engineering or related professional disciplines, or the successful pursuit of graduate studies with contributions to improving society and the global community.

Join prestigious engineering societies — such as the IEEE (Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers, ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), SWE (Society of Women Engineers) and others — to network with other students and professionals. Extracurricular activities include participation in special-interest student clubs in robotics, power systems, telecommunications and others, as well as participation in academic student competitions.

SUNY Oswego’s bachelor of science degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET – the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.

Our interdisciplinary degree integrates concepts and methods from computer science, graphic design and the social sciences. Drawing upon these concepts and methods, you will learn user-centered design approaches as you create information and communication technologies such as websites, mobile apps, computer games and software design.
