The Master's International Year has been designed for students who don’t meet the entry requirements for direct admission to a Master’s engineering program at Baylor University.

Why Study the Master’s International Year?
Achieve your Master's degree in Engineering in four semesters – the same amount of time as a direct admission student. In this two-semester program, you'll earn up to 12 credits toward your degree while benefiting from the personalized support of our dedicated Global Gateway Program faculty and staff. 

What You Will Study
In the Master's International Program, you’ll study core courses in your Engineering program while developing your English language skills. Your first two semesters will be taught jointly by the University and the International Study Center, so you will be integrated into your Engineering program from the start. 

You’ll develop your engineering skills through coursework and practicum projects, which will vary depending on your interests and ambitions. Alongside engineering, you will be able to study complementary subjects such as business, mathematics, statistics and more – so you graduate ready to begin your career.

The International Year program is designed especially for international students. It is the first year of study at Baylor University, where students study a combination of English language courses and credit-bearing academic courses. So they can earn credits towards their degree from the beginning.

General Family and Consumer Sciences
The General Family & Consumer Sciences (GFCS) program at Baylor University focuses on issues that affect individuals, families and communities. Discussion involves issues that relate to the basic needs of food, shelter, clothing, and relationships. Students in this major study different populations as they encounter the challenges of living and working in a global society.

The Physics major is the study of matter, energy, force and motion and the way in which they relate to one another. It provides a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for graduate studies or careers in technology, medicine, education, law, finance, industry and other professions. • Computer Model in Physics
• Electricity and Magnetism
• Classical Mechanics
• Statistical and Thermal Physics

Students can pursue either a BS or BA in Physics. The Bachelor of Science in Physics prepares students for graduate studies or careers in technology, medicine, education, law, finance, industry, and other professions. The Bachelor of Arts in Physics provides a traditional liberal arts education with a solid set of core courses in physics. Physics is also offered as a secondary major or minor for students who are pursuing a different field of study.

Neuroscience
The Neuroscience major (designated as a pre-major) is the study of the nervous system with a special emphasis on the brain. Neuroscience spans many academic fields, including biology, psychology and chemistry.  Courses develop a thorough understanding of the nervous system, from molecules and genes to behavior and motor skills, and related disorders.  Available courses include:

Environmental Health Science
Environmental Health Science studies the relationship between the environment and human health. This includes preventing illness by identifying and assessing hazardous agents, environmental sources and limiting exposures to chemical, physical and biological agents in air, water, soil, food and other environments that may impact human health. Environmental health professionals work to ensure safe water, food, air quality and workplace conditions, mitigate the impact of disasters and investigate and help control disease outbreaks. The Russian language is used throughout the world and is one of the five official languages of the United Nations. As such, a Russian major is beneficial for those wishing to work in international affairs. The major includes studying the Russian language, culture and history. Students become fluent in written and spoken Russian. Available courses include:

• Russian Conversation and Composition

Theatre Design and Technology
The Theatre Design and Technology major is ideal for students who wish to pursue careers in set design, costume design, lighting design, or technical design. Students work with the Theatre Arts production crews and can select a focus within the design categories, which can help them build their portfolio throughout their time at Baylor. Medical Humanities
The Medical Humanities program (designated as a pre-major) at Baylor is a unique major, and there are only a few of its kind across the country.  It is designed to provide a holistic education for students interested in working in the medical or healthcare field. The Medical Humanities program studies how humanities, social science and the arts relate to medical education and practice. Coursework is from a variety of departments including science, history, religion, philosophy, psychology and sociology.  Available courses include:

A major in Medical Humanities helps undergraduate students enter the field of healthcare in several different capacities.  It is a popular major for students in the premedicine, pre-dental and pre-law tracks as well as students pursuing nursing, social work and health education or healthcare administration. Graduates have worked in public health, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and counseling centers.

Astrophysics is the branch of Astronomy that deals with the physics of space. It includes the physical properties of space objects (like planets, starts, galaxies and comets) as well as their interactions. Astrophysics includes many other disciplines from physics, such as electromagnetism, relativity, mechanics, and atomic and molecular physics. The Astrophysics major is offered as either a Bachelor of Science (BS) or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Available courses include:
